If being made solely for deer, I’d go 6.5 w/ the 123s. Why? Less recoil. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with the .308, I have one and love it. But while I’m not necessarily recoil averse, why deal with more than you need?

I had one briefly when they went for $800, and it seemed like a solid entry-level option at that price. When I see used ones going for $1200-1400 these days, I always think to myself that I can get a Tikka CTR in a Bravo for that and have an overall nicer rifle. 🤷‍♂️

I didn’t take it as such lol. Frankly, flying for Delta would have been an upgrade over the path I chose for a few reasons outside of the flying itself. That’s a story for another time, though. :)
