Wow, more negative on here for the aac than i expected. I have a SDN6 and no problems. When behind my 308, it actually helped my groups a little. As far as locking up tight, its never been an issue; maybe i got lucky. Surefire def makes sweet cans as well but as stated above $$. Before i bought...
I too have brakeouts and muzzle brake. Brakeouts are on semi's and they work pretty good. Def better than the flash hiders ive shot on other people guns. The muzzle brake on my 308 bolt gun is great. No vibration like the brakeouts. I havent shot a brakeout on the bolt gun so cant really help...
I like that stock. Palm swell looks comfortable to shoot. Have you shot it yet? Better groups? Are you planning to dip or paint the stock at all to go along with that action?
I have that same beginning rifle that had been cut down to 16.5 and put in a custom made wood thumb hole stock. Great deer blind gun cuz its so short. Shoots good to 300 yards. Dont recall ever shooting it further than that. Been sitting in a safe for prob 15 years now, wasnt a big fan of that...
The surefires work great for skeet as its not quite as loud and they still allow you to hear conversation. However when your at the pistol range or shooting in the middle of a bunch of rifle lanes they dont cut it and can cause me to flinch. For pistols I have a set of those epoxy plugs you form...
Im biased towards the 6.5 cuz ive been wanting to build one. What other caliber rifles do you have? If you load its nice to already be tooled up and when facing a new caliber you have to invest in brass as well.
I built a relatively similar setup. Used the 18" WOA 1:7 with seekins receiver. With 77s it shot really good, ~.5 moa. Bulk 55's whole nother story, ~2 moa. Its a really nice barrel and boasts good workmanship when you inspect it out of the box. Hope you enjoy the build.
5R all the way, awesome factory rifle accuracy. 1:11.25 twist handles a lot of different projectile weights. best groups have been with 175s and 168s both going sub .25 moa on good days. will pretty much shoot anything sub 1 moa. Only thing mine hasnt liked were speer projectiles.
Instead of the small screw driver i have a little tool that essentially looks like a piece of dental equipment. It has a hook on one end and flat spear looking shape on the other. The hook is great for stuff like this, its geometry is real useful for tricky stuff like this. Also is extremely...
Bigalfromfl, nice rig man! Great choice on the glass and all these guys are right about it just beginning, you def have been bitten by the bug. I have gotten into building ARs the past couple years and need to make room in the safe for the next project. Its amazing how we justify this stuff to...
