If that is bullet to lands measurement, that sounds about right for a factory Remington barreled action. My SPS Tac is just over 2.90 with the 168gr SMK's.

I will just say, it was an impressive wardrobe choice...

I put the earlier gen HS DBM in a takeoff 700P HS Precision stock and it dropped right in, no fitting required. I can not say if the new style HS DBM will drop in, but I would be surprised if it did not.

+1, You can not go too big.

I run a HS Precision on mine, but the PTG is hard to beat for the price.

I am with Alpine 338 on the 5R in 300WM with brake, although it may be a little heavy for packing around for some people. A good sling/pack system works well for this.

HSM ammo shot well out of my 20" 700SPS before I started hand loading. I went to HSM to get a lower price than the FGMM ammo. I was able to pick it up at gun shows for close to $15/box a couple years ago.
