How do people associate MILs to Metric when the definition of MILs is 1/1000 of a Radian? Well we all know that MOA is Minutes-Of-Angle. And everyone "knows" that 1 MOA at 100yards = 1" of drop...thats acceptable...right? Well lets do some High School Trig to see just how close to 1" at...

I have the same setup, shooting Lapua 260 brass. I ran into a similar problem where my brass grew 0.008" beyond spec. My 260 chamber has a ramp, not a straight wall where the case ends and the throat begins. Placing a neck-sized, but empty case into the chamber was not a problem because the...
Is sounds like you've produced inconsistent neck tension in your trimming process...You don't have the motorized RCBS turner do you? Are you trimming after you resize? Although I dislike overworking brass, you may want to run all your brass through the resize die again after trimming, this...
Hope it all works out. The thing to remember about the 7mm Weatherby, is it was designed in an age when speed was king...It had a 1 in 12 twist! to launch small light bullets and be the fastest kid on the block. Today, we understand and appreciate high BCs. Those high BCs are achieved with...
Shot Charge Velocity #16 72.0 2716 #17 71.6 2705 #18 71.2 2698 #19 70.8 2685 So, I chose the mid point between #17 and #18 of 71.4 grains and 2700fps. What the ladder test finds...if you are lucky...is the node where faster bullets...
LoudandProud: excellent question! I believe there is nothing wrong with your brake, crown, parallax, or shooting ability. Your extreme spread, Standard Deviation and 100 yard groups indicate quality loads. However, as you know, something is not correct...just as under rotating a bullet can...
Hiking boots, Baseball glove, Horse, Marriage...this topic defines "casting pearls before swine" ps...find my Smokn Ladder test thread under Reloading. Mark Chanlynn (who made the barrel ) includes VERY detailed instructions on how to Break-in his barrels. Who am I to argue...I followed the...
I thought I'd share these results...I went straight from the Ladder test with the 71.4 grain load to the Colorado Rifle Club 1000yard Benchrest heavy gun competition. NOTE: This is a "light" tactical rifle vs unlimited weight bench cannons with at least 1 current World Record holder and...
That's a Standard Deviation of 31.15 fps. That's pretty common for non-premium factory loads. For my Benchrest loads I expect a Standard Deviation of less than 10....commonly around 5. For my hand loaded hunting loads I expect a Standard Deviation in the teens.
Hey all, I thought I'd share with you my Ladder-Test results. I've done a ton of Ladder-Tests but never one that was this cut and dry. I just recently put together a 300wm with a BigHorn Tactical action, Mark Chanlynn palma contour barrel, Manners T5-A stock, Jewell trigger, and a Muscle...
AyKay, welcome to the wonderful world of reloading with a Dillon 550B. I have one and I consistently load benchrest .260, 308, 30-06, and .300 WinMag cartridges with it. This can EASILY be accomplished, if you are aware of the strengths and weaknesses of the 550B. Here are the steps I...
.260 rem, BigHorn Action, Mark Chanlynn Palma barrel, muscle brake, Jewell trigger, Manners T5-A with 10 round DBM, Harris rocking bipod, Leupold Mark IV TMR 8.5-25 50mm scope (soon to be replaced with same FFP version), 20 MOA bases.
If you re-read my initial post one might find (perhaps not everyone) that I had a "really good brake". Unfortunately, I am unable to consistently observe bullet impacts at "half power" at less than 600 yards. Perhaps I'm not the stud you are. Finally assuming the half hashes equate to 5 MOA...
Thanks for the insight. I guess Leupold wasn't as clever as I initially thought. I'll do the yardstick calibration, but I expect that calibrated primary hashes at 8.20x of 9.5 to 10.5 inches at 100 yards (SomeOtherGuy's numbers would predict 10.5") are within my ability to integrate wind at...
