Well over the last 2-3 weeks I have been trying out some new bullets in my rifle as my Speer supply is running low. Bullets that were tried were 140 grain Hornady SST and Sierra Game King along with RL22, H4831 and IMR 4350 powders. Rifle is push feed M70. The conclusion was that this rifle just...
In my case I really wouldn't call it "issues". I was carrying the rifle on my daily walks and making a few shots. Adjusting the scope differently for most shots and with most things mechanical sometimes they just wear out. That scope was living a tough life. I will be getting another SS10X42...
I have a push feed Model 70 and both Norma and RWS brass work fine in that rifle. These are both Europe made. Haven't tried Lapau however. Regards, Keith
In September of 2010 I bought a SS10X42 scope from SWFA. About a month ago this scope had some kind of problem with the elevation adjustment so about 10 days ago I sent it back for repairs. Yesterday in the mail was a NEW replacement scope. SWFA is Super!! Regards, Keith Semper Fi
Sniper, You are correct but when you start expanding the case head you are also expanding the primer pocket and your brass want last for very many shots. Norma brass is noted to be soft so with a harder brass maybe my rifle could go a little higher. Regards, Keith
Nelson, In my rifle which is a off the shelf Model 70 49 grains of RL22 is the top and might be a little high with 2 different 140 grain bullets. When I went from 48 to 49 grains the case head expanded .0007 [7 ten thousands] inches. This is with old Norma brass. My rifle has a very long...
Today I started checking the 140 grain Hornady SST bullet and RL22 powder for pressure. I went from 47 to 49 grains of powder and pressure seemed to be OK. Case head expanded .0007 inches on the 49 grain shot. The 49 grains of RL22 is the same as 140 grain Speer. The COAL with this SST bullet...
Been, I tried 48 grains of H4831 with a 140 grain Speer and the pressure was OK. At 49 grains I got to much case head expansion. Of course we are talking about different situations. I do wonder why there was a lot of smoke. Never saw that one before. Keith
I have one and like the above poster said "great warranty" because I sure needed it. My scope lasted the first time for probably less than 50 rounds and the elevation internals went out and were replaced. Worked good for around 100 rounds and last week I went to make a come up in elevation and...
I have a Winchester M70 Featherweight in 6X55. I bought it around 1999. I don't have a lot of experience with this rifle and have only tried H4831 and RL22 powders along with 2 bullets 140 Gr Partitions and 140 Gr Speers. This rifle has a very long throat and with the Speer bullet 49 Gr of RL22...
I have one of those 10 powers but it's not a side focus. On my scope both the windage and elevation are real mushy. It's very difficult to feel the clicks. Regards, Keith
