    Thoughts on ammo theft

Screw the Ammo! I need to lock up my reloading equipment, primers, and powder. Actually, I do stuff a reasonable amount of loaded rounds in the safe, however not all of it fits, I think I should be locking up the holy trinity of Primers, Powder, and my reloading equipment. Even though a meth...

Screw it, Im gonna use Sierra Gamekings!

I have shot up all my bulk 55gr FMJ and I am now sourcing projectiles for reloading my pile of .223 brass (federal). I also have 500 LC brass to play with. The more I read, the more people would have you believe M855 is junk unless you need barrier penetration, shoot a 55 FMJ too slow and you...

Hierarchy of the precision reloading process

List in order of importance, the processes one must complete to load precision rifle rounds. Let's not debate neck vs. full size... for the sake of argument, let's just say a properly sized case is needed. Let's not debate balance scale vs. digital or the Speed with which the reloading...

Will Less jump with 175 SMK = more accurate load...generally speaking?

If your the kinda guy that weighs each case individually and trims meplats, this question might not be for you. :) I was inclined to load my .308 to SAMMI COAL specs when I started reloading 2 years ago cause I like shooting more than I like reloading and was able to get 3/4 MOA ish from my...

Range Report Surveyors tape for wind indication

I found a great location for 800-1600 yard shooting, however, the location is in the high desert where a fire has passed through and burned all the natural vegetation. There is absolutely nothing to use for wind doping at the target location... or in between for that matter. Anybody use...

    Most effective brake

All things considered, which brake out there will be most effective in redirecting blast and reducing recoil in a 18.5 inch .308 build? Remington Sendero profile barrel. Approximate finish build weight will be 9-10 lbs. While I won't be using a suppressor, do Sure fire brakes make sense as stand...

Varget fast enough powder for an 18.5 inch barrel and 175 SMKs

Since I only have Varget and 175 gr. SMKs, and for the foreseeable future, there is not much else out there to switch to, do you all feel its worth while working up a load for an 18.5 inch bartlien 5r 11.25 twist in .308? I want the rifle to bang steel out to 800 yards. Occasionally farther when...

Range Report Realistic expectations of Rem 700 BDL

Best I can get my bone stock 700 BDL sporter weight to shoot is 1.2-1.5 inch 5 shot groups at 100. I really have to bear down and concentrate to get this. Is sub MOA realistic for a sporter weight Remington? Do they exist? I am shooting match grade .308 rounds BTW, and the stock has been bedded.

Hunting & Fishing Do looks matter?

On my target rifles, which all have synthetic stocks and matte finish scopes etc. looks don't matter to me to much to me as long as the system works. However, I just purchased a older Remington 700 that I think is great looking. Near perfect blueing and beautiful wood stock. I just can't see a...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Tale of two J frames

J frame #1 has the Uncle mike"s molded grips that fit my hand like a glove, super comfortable. My newly acquired J frame has Crimson Trace grips that I am having a hard time getting used to. I have not shot the J frame with the CT grips yet as I am waiting on an ammo delivery. Until then, I...

    My reloading speed

I was curious and decided to find out how long it takes me to reload 50 .308 rounds from start to finish. Total time was 1 hour and 18 minutes. The cases were once fired and had basic prep already done previously. The 1:18 was for set up, de-prime/full length re-size, check OAL... no trimming...

Rifle Scopes Homemade turret conversion from Mil/MOA to Mil/Mil

So I stumbled across a video that illustrated A homemade way to convert a scope with Mil dot reticles and MOA turrets into a Mil turret scope...Well, kinda, almost. Has anybody remarked their 1/4 MOA graduated turrets by painting or otherwise obscuring the 1/4 MOA "click" adjustments and...

Rifle Scopes Leupold 6.5-20 x50mm M5 FF TMR = FYI WTF??

Per Leupold website it is listed as having 100 MOA internal adjustment. It doen'st. I just Checked mine and found I have 81 MOA adj. Elevation and 80 MOA Windage. I checked by gently seating the turrets and counting the "clicks" in the opposite direction. I then multiplied the number (236) by...
