How much variation in OAL is acceptable?

I've done a good bit of searching but mostly get answers from benchrest shooters which are beyond my ability and equipment at this time. I'm loading a Hornady 178BTHP in .308 and my C.O.L. measured off of the Ogive is 2.139. However I started loading a box of bullets from the same lot number...

Is it worth upgrading yet- and in what way?

Looking for some advice from those more seasoned and knowledgeable than me. I'm shooting a Rem 700 SPS varmint in B&C M40 stock. Using my handloads I average from .5 to .7 MOA at 200 pretty consistently. I'm currently using RCBS basic die set, Winchester or Hornady brass, Hornady 168 BTHP...

    Please critique my prone position

I realize the pics don't give tons of info but it was the best that I could get at the time. My wife went with me and took the pics. 1st pics is as I laid down behind the rifle to what felt comfortable to me. Of course looking at this after the fact I can see where my hips are canted off to...

Range Report A bit confused - real world drop compared to JBM

I have a bit of a confusing situation on my hands. My current target load is a Hornady 168 bthp over 43 grains of H4895 in a .308. Was averaging 2629 fps chronographed from a 700 SPS varmint with a 26' barrel. Recently had the barrel cut to 22" so I headed to the range again to check how...

    TAB Gear sling question

Just purchased one and will start learning how to use it this weekend. I've searched quite a bit but have only found the concepts of how it's used which are greatly appreciated. What I'm needing is some details on how tight it should adjusted, does it matter if the sling mounts are on the...

    Question about trimming .308

Reloading some Winchester brass. Prior to loading I trim it to 2.005. After firing it measures 2.010. Listed maximum case length is 2.015. Do I need to trim it back down to 2.005? I have been trimming it after each firing. Am I wasting my time or is it worth it to trim each time? Thanks...

    Some "big" game success.

Fairly new to this forum and will mostly read as most here know way more than I do. Just recently acquired a Savage MKII FV and put a Truglo 6-24x44 on it to start learning precision rifle as I've pretty much exclusively shot handguns and shotguns. Went to the range today and had some fun...
