If someone recut the threads, for truing sake, material was removed. Yes, it's quite common to see a major diameter end up around that. The pitch diameter is much more important, although the major has to be small enough to fit whatever you are fitting the barrel to.

In the past, I have found that thunderbeast has something up with their threads. I use a thread micrometer and typically cut a pitch of .596 on a 5/8-24 muzzle. Thunderbeast cans are the ONLY thing that has ever given me issues with fit. The few cans I have threaded for have all seemed to be...
I like a neck thats about .340 and with the least amount of freebore possible. Whatever you can get that is closest to this, I believe, will be the most accurate.
