Winchester Model 70 7WSM new to me

I tried both your tips this evening. I used the long tang screw in the front action hole screwed all the way in which left 1/2" sticking out. Rapped it with a piece of oak and steel hammer a couple times and it wouldn't budge. Reversing the front scope ring was also not working because I...

Winchester Model 70 7WSM new to me

My brother gave me his Montana Elk rifle and I picked it up a couple weeks ago. He also gave me his stash of 140 rounds of Winchester Supreme 160gr Fail Safe! I bore scoped it and the chamber is excellent. Lot's of copper in the lands but I got all that out. A couple of problems. The...

    Sierra 6mm 107HPBT Matchking caution

Here's an explanation on the #1570MP. It's not the same bullet as the #1570. The ogive is the biggest difference. 1570 (Standard MatchKing): This bullet is a well-established and respected design known for its accuracy and consistency in competitive shooting, especially in high-power and...

    Sierra 6mm 107HPBT Matchking caution

It's a different construction and shape. It's Copper-Nickel product number #1570MP. The bullets I've been using for years are copper jacket only, no nickel product number #1507. I sent them back, otherwise I'd take a picture but they are obviously different.

    Sierra 6mm 107HPBT Matchking caution

Bought from Midway, Sierra makes 2 versions of this bullet. I ordered (and returned) a 250 count box and they have 107gr HPBT-CN on the box. Product #1570MP. These are a copper/nickel jacket and seat .020" deeper in my chamber according my Hornady gauge. Midway does not say anything about...

    Patch lost in suppressor

Your probably right but blades of grass have affected bullet stability and a patch just might do the same in the short pass through the baffles. Besides my straw, I'm liking the lighter fluid suggestion too.

    Patch lost in suppressor

I heard back from Otter Creek and they said not to worry about it and go ahead and shoot. Why take chances though. My patent pending Silencer Straw is the way to go.

    Patch lost in suppressor

I got it out. I blew through soda straw and got it to move out of the baffles. A couple tries and I got it with a bronze brush. Thanks Shawn. It's a direct thread attachment and I contacted Otter Creek when I got the thing and they said it was fine to clean the barrel with it attached. I'm...

    Patch lost in suppressor

It's my Polonium K that I use on 556/6mm. I'll try the air compressor in the morning. And remove the can before cleaning the barrel next time.

    Patch lost in suppressor

I lost a patch in my suppressor; a small 22 caliber square patch. Should I try and get it out or will it burn up harmlessly? My cleaning rod wasn't long enough with the bore guide in place so I had to reverse it and the patch came off. I contacted Otter Creek but have not heard back yet...

    Sig Cross vs Tikka, etc

I know Tikkas and I'd have to handle the others to compare. All my Tikkas feed 100%, the stock trigger is very good and they are accurate. The Sig Cross is definitely one I'd like to take a real close look at. The Backfire Utuber rates it as his favorite rifle.

    1500yd Rifle Recommendation

I've got 4 Tikka's, two of them in KRG Bravo chassis'. You can always add weight to them for long range games and then lighten them up for hunting. I've not shot at 1500 yards but am confident my 30/06 or 6.5CM would do fine with a good Berger and load. The Varmint Tikka's have threaded...

    Winchester Model 70 7MM WSM

I'll be getting a Win Model 70 in 7WSM this May from my brother. He lives in a straight wall cartridge county now and thought he'd give it to me. It was his Montana elk rifle before he moved back to Michigan. This morning I got a notification from Midway that they have new Hornady 7WSM brass...

    MDT Oryx chassis

I'm wanting this chassis for a Tikka action but have read that the rear stock is in the way of properly running a cleaning rod through straight. I also swap scopes too much and am also concerned about bore sighting down the barrel with the stock in the way. My question is, can the rear of the...

Tried Resizing 6.5 Creedmoor and Failed, Need Suggestions

Forster will make you a die that works for your brass if you send them a few samples of fired cases. I had the problem you are having with Lee and Hornady 8mm Mauser full length dies.

To clean or not to clean barrel when testing new bullets

I'm in your camp and wait for groups to tell me when to clean. I would not clean the copper out between bullet types. Maybe a quick powder solvent and boresnake then shoot a couple foulers.

    Tikka T3 Thread

My T3X Varmint 6.5CM in the Bravo works 100% in the ACIS mag. It did not work as well in my 1500 Howa HCR. I really like a plastic mags though like magpul; not as sharp edged and not as rattle rattle. KRG says MagPul won't work so well in the Bravo so I sold it with the Howa.

    Tikka T1X

I have a case of CCI SV and a brick of Tac22. I put on the Magneto-speed today and 10 rounds of the CCI SV measured an average of 1072fps with an ES of 32. The 10 rounds of Tac22 averaged 1039fps and an ES of 20. I'm guessing the better (expensive) ammo has better extreme spread as shown by...

    Tikka T3 Thread

I've got s soft side Fender guitar case that is 44 inches long that would be stealthy. Mine came with my Strat but they have got to be cheap on their own.

    Tikka T3 Thread

Re the measurment of the Bravo and CTR. I have the Varmint model with the 23 3/4" barrel and subtracked 3 3/4" to get 40". I got to thinking the CTR has a flash hider? If so add the length of the muzzle device to the 40"! Sorry about that.
