I've owned a PST and a couple NF compacts and I will agree that the glass is a toss up. Every other aspect will be better on the NF though, with the exception of maybe the reticle. I really liked the EBR-1 Mil reticle on my PST.
Never would have thought you have multiple places to shoot that kind of distance. We only have one range in WI that goes to 1000 yards... that I know of.
Yeah the biggest difference I hear most say is that Varget holds up better to temp changes. I've only used RE-15, in both 308 and 223. I owned a 700 XCR for awhile. If you're looking for a shorter range target/hunting load I shot consistent half moa groups with that rifle and a 135 grain Match...
Actually not a big 1911 guy at all. The Dan Wesson was my first and like I said I'd be willing to part with it. Is it just a TRP with VZ grips? I have no idea. It does shoot very well with Missouri Bullet 225 grain flat heads and w231. That, I do know.
Have you read the optics selection sticky? You have many good options @ the 2000 dollar mark. @ 600 yards you'll want at least 12x and for doing holdovers I would recommend a well laid out Mil-based reticle. The Bushnell HDMR 3-21 with G2 reticle came to mind when reading your post but some...
