lapua brass with a 175smk 40grains of re15 was my starting point.. i think the problem was crimping it. can i get by without crimping and have the bullet stay in place? ar10 in 308 with a 20 kreiger bull barrel i only shot once. factory loads have no issues

ar10 in 308 with a 20in kreiger barrel with a 11.25:1 twist i know 175 will be good but I'm just wondering what others will do good out to 1000 yards. I'm going to play around with different weights. also thinking of trying the 155 scenar unless it just wouldn't work for what I'm doing?

In researching different loads iv seen a good many people trim brass for 308winchester to 2.016. Is this safe? My brass is between 2.010-2.016. I of course will seat the bullet to an OAL of 2.810

I cant shoot that far and cant pay the range fees to use the 1000yard range here. I was looking for 100-200yard shooting competitions can be for 308, 223, 22, 17 or any other round that might be required is this possible?
