    308 AR bolt carrier?

Looking for some help: I am building (or trying to build) an AR in .260 (308 platform). I have my barrel already cut for 260 as well as the bolt. I have my stripped upper and lower (MEGA 308 in nickel boron). I am in need of a few things and just can not find them due to the current political...

6.5 Sierra 140mk vs. hornady 140 match vs. nosler

Re: 6.5 Sierra 140mk vs. hornady 140 match vs. nosler same with their match ammo. it is a lot cheaper but weighing them all and sorting them from buying ten boxes vs. a 1k or 500 box with the same lot # is sometimes more work than its worth. I always weight a random even in the bulk packs.

6.5 Sierra 140mk vs. hornady 140 match vs. nosler

Re: 6.5 Sierra 140mk vs. hornady 140 match vs. nosler I've tried sierra 123, 140 and 142. The 140's stabilize the best for me. surgeon 591 with a 26" bartlien. As far as the scenars, I have not. Since they are $14 more per hundred than the sierras it brings a moot point in relaxing my...

6.5 Sierra 140mk vs. hornady 140 match vs. nosler

Looking for advise from any 6.5 shooters (260 rem to be exact but any 6.5 will do) on experience with matchking 140s vs. hornady match 140s vs. nosler custom competition 140s. I am staying with the 140 after testing with the sierra matchkings with a five round build group of .255. I shoot out...

    TRG-22 or Surgeon AX

Re: TRG-22 or Surgeon AX TRG and Surgeons are quite a bit off in price. I don't have a surgeon built rifle, but I do have a surgeon 591 action with a bartlien 5r built by bartlien in a AICS chasis, and I'll tell you, I wouldn't trade it for anything. First day of load build up (and less than...

    long distance 260 rem powder

Re: long distance 260 rem powder Looking now at the SAMMI specs again I see that the overall case length is 2.035 and the Lapua cases come (and were all very uniform) at 2.028. Maybe that would explain the pressure (primer buldge) at full SAMMI 2.800 since it was pushing against the l&g a bit...

    long distance 260 rem powder

Re: long distance 260 rem powder So overall a great morning. Groups are holding great with 42.2 grains of 4350. 1/2" moa at 100 yards with bipod and shoulder (no bench or locked bench) isn't bad for first day out. A little bit of pressure problems but scaling the overall length back to 2.795...

    long distance 260 rem powder

Re: long distance 260 rem powder well today is the day. I finally got everything back from bartlien. Everything is ready to go and I'm heading to the range for 0900. I've got 4350. 140 sierras and 123 sierras to fit my lapua casings. 42-43gr seems to be the magic number. Time to work some powder.

    long distance 260 rem powder

Re: long distance 260 rem powder 4350 was my initial and likely what I'll start out with. I like to build up loads and swap powders for different bullet weights. Just like in any other caliber or setup, a 123gr is not going to perform the same as the 140gr w/o finding the right powder setup...

    long distance 260 rem powder

So I'm looking for feedback from 260 shooters on powder. I have some time to decide since Bartlien is still (8 weeks! - quoted 4) fitting the new barrel on my surgeon. Just looking for results. I'm using a 26" bartlien HV #9 with a new Surgeon 591, Jewell BR in a aics chasis. Our range is just...

Rifle Scopes Need some new glass. Leupold? Nightforce?

Re: Need some new glass. Leupold? Nightforce? Save some cash and get ahold of Scott at Liberty Optics. He has the best prices. I am a big fan of my new IOR and compared to the NXS I think the glass is better with all the same options for less. All in what you want to do with it. The NF is a...

Deciding on the best stock for a 700 sps tactical

Re: Deciding on the best stock for a 700 sps tactical you should also weigh the difference of if you want glass bed vs. pillar bed. (manners/mcmillan vs. aics/whiskey3) Since its a stock rifle (for now) pillar bedding requires no actual labor and for all intesive purpose is great. Glass...

Advise on a heavy duty AICS bipod

Re: Advise on a heavy duty AICS bipod So I just read an older post from Kasey (from Accu-Shot) who says there are two new models coming out..someday. The V10 is going to be for 338+ calibers, a little too big for my 6.5/08 short action. The GG&G XDS is sick! Designed for heavys like the...
