Sierra 5 vs Nomad 30 for SBR

HTX - serial no. 025xx. I assume this is an early one, since I bought it when they first came out and before all the negative reviews started showing up. I also tend to baby this can a little (unlike my Sandman) so I really avoid mag dumps and never let the can get red hot.

Sierra 5 vs Nomad 30 for SBR

I've probably got over 1000 rounds through my Sierra 5. So far no issues, so I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. Weight and length are pretty reasonable and sound suppression with several 10.5" uppers has been good. However, as others have said, they are pretty gassy (worse for me because I...

    Aimpoint pro, Trijicon MRO? Eotech?

Like OP, I'm not military/LEO, just an enthusiast that likes to shoot. I own multiple AR's (mostly SBR's) and I shoot primarily suppressed. Probably put 4-5000 rounds through my AR's a year - the vast majority shooting offhand and doing various drills. I personally like both MRO's and...

    How To Improve Split Times

I've got to go with the Pirate on this one. Sorry, but given the choice between following the advice of some random dude on the internet or a top shooter - someone who makes his living shooting pistols, competing in tournaments and giving classes, I'm going to go with the latter. And, based on...

Which One Should I Buy, SIG 516 Or Noveske N4

There was a time when you could buy complete 516 uppers for $600. Some guys picked them up for even less. That being the case, I suspect if you are patient you could probably find a used one for a damn good price. So maybe get the Noveske and then wait for a 516 upper. And as someone who...

    Suppressors *** NEW *** Dead Air Sandman-S vs. Nomad-LT on .300 BLK w/ 220 Subs

This is how I end up with multiple AR's. In my case I always seem to have a couple of extra BCG's lying around, so I don't have to spend the money on one now. Of course the next time I can pick up a Toolcraft or Microbest BCG for cheap I'll probably buy another one, so I always have a couple...

    Suppressors *** NEW *** Dead Air Sandman-S vs. Nomad-LT on .300 BLK w/ 220 Subs

FuhQ - Thanks for the video. Watched with great interest, as I just picked up a blemished AeroPrecision 8" 300 BLK upper (at $250 w/ free shipping I just couldn't pass it up). Will probably end up suppressing it with my Sandman S, so a very similar set up to yours. Also really like the...

    Suppressors Kgm R338 suppressor

I believe the stuff from KGM is long gone. Bereli stiill has some R5.56 and R30T cans for approx. 50% off retail. Not the prices I picked them up for, but still a pretty good deal. https://www.bereli.com/suppressors/

Anyone own a Gallow Technology or Secureit gunsafes?

I own a Gallow Tech cabinet that I installed when I built my house. It is bolted into the wall. Agree that this is more a storage system than a security system. Lots of flexibiliity in how you store your rifles, so you can use space very efficiently. And if the goal is to keep young children...

Anyone with a lot of rounds through SSG-3000?

Mine is a total hammer. 1/2 to 3/4 MOA. Once shot a 20 round group that was a hair over 1 MOA with round 20 opening things up by .1-.2 MOA. And that was using FGMM, not handloads.

Gunsmithing I need help choosing BEST 300 Blackout in 10.5

Sounds like Padom has your answer. If you're willing to be a little flexible about barrel length you might look at Wilson Combat. No personal experience with one, but I think they have a pretty good reputation for accuracy.

    Suppressors Kgm R338 suppressor

So I have a KGMR556 can and an R30T in jail. I haven't put a lot of rounds through the 5.56 can, but I've been very happy with it. Suppression is good. I like the sound signature. Not much blowback. And I like the attachment system. The fact that they seem to have some big gov. contracts...

    Larue lower blowout

Now I'm confused. Sale wasn't of stripped lowers but complete lowers - i.e. lower parts kit installed, LaRue trigger, RAT stock, etc. I'm actually pretty pissed I just missed out on this deal And I already have two complete LaRue AR15's, a LaRue AR10, stripped AR15 and AR10 LaRue lowers I...

Suppressors Best bang for the buck

Also, keep in mind what is "best" really depends on your use and what is important to you. For me, actual decibel reduction is generally less important than other things. Whether you're shooting a 24" bolt gun or a 10.5" AR any center fire round that's going supersonic is not really going to...

Suppressors Best bang for the buck

DA Nomad TI is a really nice can, particularly if you want to go light. It's literally like a feather. And compared to my Sandman S, I would say the tone/suppression is better. TI should be fine on a bolt action rifle. You do have to watch your temps. with TI, but you're not going to be...

Suppressors Best bang for the buck

Well, since the criteria is "best bang for buck" not best suppressor, I'm surprised no one has mentioned KGM R30. Specifically designed to either enhance (or at least not degrade) accuracy, well built, good suppression, and significantly reduces recoil. More importantly, you can currently pick...

    Which "gucci" ar to get?

CLE upper maybe with a LMT MARS lower since its fully ambidextrous. Can't go wrong with a Krieger or Bartlien barrel. For a bench gun I really like a Magpul PRS stock. Geissele or LaRue trigger.

    Anyone running a DDMK18 Suppressed?

I shoot my MK18 suppressed almost 100% of the time. Run a Sandman S and a Trijicon MRO red dot. I believe I either have an H2 or an H3 buffer. Gun is pretty soft shooting, and I've run 1000+ rounds through it. Don't think I've ever had a FTF/FTE, including when I've shot in subzero temps.

    KAC SR25 challenge!!!

Best advice in this thread so far. ;) Going 35k rounds between barrel changes does give you an idea of how important accuracy is to the KAC owner. I guess bullets key holing is actually another advanced design feature of KAC rifles. :)

    KAC SR25 challenge!!!

I'm really loving this post. Let's be honest. 90--95% of AR owners maybe shoot their gun less than a half dozen times a year. If they can hit a tin can at 50 yards or a balloon at 100 from a concrete bench they're happy. Of the remaining 5-10% who actually go to the range on a regular basis...
