    Gunsmithing StockDoc Review and Pics

I did not see a thread showing the work StockDoc does so I will start. Here is a picture of the work StockDoc did on my McMillan A3 stock. Picture shows the Loggerhead and flush cups he installed on the butt. All I can say is it looks great, it would be pretty tough for the home hobbyist to get...

    which micro red dot?

Re: which micro red dot? A T-1 or H-1 if your life depends on it. A Vortex SPARC if not. There is plenty of info on the Aimpoints. The SPARC is great for the price, but the battery life is no where near that of the Aimpoints.

    Gun Safes

Re: Gun Safes Went with a Pendleton King Series because it fit through the door, made the turn down the basement steps, and fit in the corner. I especially like the accessibility, nothing gets buried in the back. I found THIS video funny and interesting.

What is critical to accuracy on an AR?

Re: What is critical to accuracy on an AR? Good ammo and good glass. After that BCM makes some great stainless upper setups for the money (I believe Criterion makes their barrels). Seekins is certainly well respected and has great CS. As for free-float, I would look at a tube like the Troy...

AR tuorial for non AR guys

Re: AR tuorial for non AR guys It is hard to know what will and will not transpire with the government (bunch of reactionary, clueless clowns that they are). That said my current tactical carbine is a Daniel Defense 14" with permanently attached BattleComp compensator (is that redundant?)...

scoping an AR, or red dot

Re: scoping an AR I can see an RMR on a 3-9, but running a 1-4 that has a daylight visible dot or chevron alleviates the need for any ancillary optic. Also having to cant the weapon or change head position/cheek weld to use the secondary optic has never been something I have found...

    Left hand AR 15

Re: Left hand AR 15 I have a Stag lefty and would buy another before any of the other choices. That said I think a righty or lefty should be ambi no matter what.

scoping an AR, or red dot

Re: scoping an AR I ran T1s on my patrol rifles for years. Now that I am middle age I have a 1-4 and wish I would have switched a couple of years ago. If you buy the right 1-4 it can be run both eyes open as a red-dot CQB and it gives you the ability to reach out and touch your target at...

    AR Bolt Carrier Group

Re: AR Bolt Carrier Group Rainier Arms has a couple different 223/5.56 in stock. G&R Tactical has BCM in stock.

Rifle Scopes CQB Optic advice - all input welcome

Re: CQB Optic advice - all input welcome To me CQB means you are running both eyes open clearing rooms and need a dot or similar for rapid target acquisition and both eyes open for situational awareness. You can do that with a true 1X and even the 1.1X like a Short Dot, however as your...

    AR-15 or somthing else?

Re: AR-15 or somthing else? For what is costs to buy a DPMS, Bushmaster, or other second/third tier carbine and fix the issues so you do not have problems you can buy a BCM, DD, LMT, Colt, etc. Comparison Chart of Commercial M4-Pattern Carbines From the thread "Be an Informed Consumer" on...

Rifle Scopes Is FFP useful on 1-4X or 1-6X scope?

Re: Is FFP useful on 1-4X or 1-6X scope? Maybe on the 1-6. But it really depends on what you are mounting it on and what your use is. I compared a 1-4 FFP versus a SFP for my duty carbine. For me the reticle was too small on the FFP to be really useful. Maybe if you have better eyes than...

Anyone have XS 24/7 Offset Iron Sights?

Re: Anyone have XS 24/7 Offset Iron Sights? I have CSATs on my carbines and Big Dots on several handguns. XS makes quality kit. That said, this looks like something that would hang on gear, catch on a door frame or cause other hindrances. If you try it out and it works, it would be...

    Rifle Scopes Anyone use these?

Re: Anyone use these? I have the Vortex branded one on the 1-4 on my duty carbine. It is great for rapid changes but I am not sure how useful it would be for fine adjustments.

Limited Edition Sniper's Hide Data Books from IDB

Re: Limited Edition Sniper's Hide Data Books from IDB Just have to post about the great customer service I received from Impact Data Books. I ordered one of the SH books and also added a laminated reticle insert to my cart. Several days later I was looking at the site and realized I had...

Rifle Scopes h58 vs mil dot

Re: h58 vs mil dot Is there a generic name for the Horus, Vortex EBR-2, HDMR, etc.? I am very new to long range and it would seem for a noob that these reticles are faster for acquiring a target (or multiple or moving targets) in a tactical or hunting scenario than a standard mil-dot. But I...

    Sling for FN SPR

Re: Sling for FN SPR Wow. That has to make for the easiest decision I have made on this gun. And the best thing is there are not 20 options to decide between. Thanks.

    Sling for FN SPR

I did a search for "sling" and based on the number of for sale posts the TIS sling must be pretty popular, but that was about all I got from my search. On my duty carbine I run a Vickers/Blue Force Gear CAS, but when it comes to long range rifles I am definitely a noob. I would guess the...

    Rifle Scopes Red Dot sites

Re: Red Dot sites Aimpoint H1 unless you need NV then T1. On the budget side the Vortex SPARC. I have used a Dockter Optic on an ACOG and it was OK, but seemed to wash out pretty easily.
