Sidearms & Scatterguns Taurus 1911 compared to others?

Re: Taurus 1911 compared to others? Just received one in my shop, the firing pin block has locked up and won't allow the firing pin to strike the primer. You get what you pay for. Your much better off with a Springfield milspec and sending it off to have the essentials done.

Sidearms & Scatterguns Commander size 1911 in 9mm

Re: Commander size 1911 in 9mm Also, my cco is a true commander slide (4.25 inch). Anything below that will not run as reliable as their big brothers.

    Sidearms & Scatterguns 9 MM 1911's ??

Re: 9 MM 1911's ?? Use the metalform magazines that have the "Springfield" follower. Brownells and midway sell them. Those are all I will use for a 9mm 1911

Sidearms & Scatterguns Custom by Winslow Intro and 1911 torture test

Re: Custom by Winslow Intro and 1911 torture test While on a normal day, I try not to throw them in the dirt, sometimes, the worst happens. While my (pick one of the big three semi custom I've owned) would shoot all day long at the range, malfunctions would occur when subjected to elements. I...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Custom by Winslow Intro and 1911 torture test

Re: Custom by Winslow Intro and 1911 torture test Drifter, not a bad idea. I'll get a pistol made up with some artic designs I've wanted to implement and give you a shout. If it will work in Alaska, there isn't much other places in the world it won't work. I get a lot of people asking what's...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Custom by Winslow Intro and 1911 torture test

Re: Custom by Winslow Intro and 1911 torture test Ionbond is great stuff but for the money, I like cerakote. It holds up well, and is somewhat easy to refinish. I like the "beat to hell" look, and find it harder to get with the ionbond! A good freezing is definately on the menu.

Sidearms & Scatterguns Custom by Winslow Intro and 1911 torture test

Re: Custom by Winslow Intro and 1911 torture test If anyone has ideas on a winter torture test let me know. I'm thinking about implementing a design similar to what's found on the accuracy international article warfare bolts to eliminate failures from the slide and frame freezing together.

Re: Custom by Winslow Intro and 1911 torture test The total elapsed time from when the magazine first entered the water and when I started to notice the rust was about an hour and a half. Nasty stuff. Never personally met Steve but I have seen his work and its fantastic.

Sidearms & Scatterguns Custom by Winslow Intro and 1911 torture test

There are a plethora of custom 1911 shops out there, with even more semi-custom makers putting their spin on the 1911 design. Most of these makers pride themselves on how accurately they shoot because of their tight slide to frame fit. This is a great thing when talking about bullseye guns, but...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Wilson vs. Brown vs. Baer vs. Nighthawk

Re: Wilson vs. Brown vs. Baer vs. Nighthawk While I do quite a few builds using a caspian slide and frame, I love using Colt series 70's for the base. STI also makes a good slide and frame set as well as Les Baer and Wilson. Les Baer and Wilson kind of force you to take on their style (bland...

Re: I loaded my first 20 rounds last night.... Too be honest, I wouldn't worry about it. Get a bullet comparator and test 1 round out of every ten or so you load to make sure your seating die is not moving on you if it make you fell better. Normally, what I do, is take calipers to 5 rounds...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Wilson vs. Brown vs. Baer vs. Nighthawk

Re: Wilson vs. Brown vs. Baer vs. Nighthawk Oregon Shooter, for a couple hundred more you can go full custom. Depending on the base gun (Caspian, les baer, colt, sti etc) the price is similar to what Wilson or Nighthawk charges but the pistol will be one of a kind. I'm busy right now but I...
