I got my first chance at a rock chuck with this bullet. I missed my first shot low but settled in on the second shot a few minutes later and got him taken care of. I was hoping for a more dramatic video but I needed him to perch up higher to hit him in a better spot to turn him into an acrobat...
I have the Burris XTR3 3-18x and the NF NXS 3.5-15x. If you’re a SFP guy the NF is a no brainer. I have loved mine but will likely be moving it to go to a 2.5-10x NXS for a super lightweight hunter. It’s just hard to get rid of the 15x when it’s worked so dang well.
I’m running mine at the same die setting as my 75 ELDM load and it rifes the same base to ogive measurement too. It puts the end of the bearing surface right above the neck/shoulder junction but I don’t red all how far off the lands they are.
Running 27.0 grains of Varget with this bullet in my 223. It’s yielding 3300 fps in my 26” tube and shooting around 1/2 MOA. I’m excited to try them out at distance and on some little varmints.
When I say it shoots, it just flat out shoots. I’m not sure I’ve ever owned a rifle that consistently shoots 10 shot groups in the .5s but this one sure does.
I run 75s in my 26” 7.5 twist Bartlein with 25.5 grains of Varget at 3040 fps. My ES sometimes is higher than I’d expect but it shoots so damn good even at distance that I just quit caring about the numbers. That load killed two rock chucks over 1200 yards last spring. I would never have...
I took my RimX out and shot with some friends that have a Bergara and a Vudoo. The Vudoo struggled in these videos because he swapped ammo and didn’t confirm velocity or zero before attempting the challenge. Shooting these Dum Dums was way more fun that it should be.
I got out twice in a week, first time that’s happened in FOREVER. 50 yard groups were good and I convinced the RO to let me shoot it at the 100 yard line too (our range doesn’t want 22lr skipping before the backstop so they generally don’t allow 22lr on the 100/200 yard range) I dialed up 6.75...
How many of you have used this in the snow? I’ve used mine twice while it was snowing lightly; the snow triggers the device to look for shots almost all the time and it missed a few shots during the snow. With a break in the snow the unit would to back to functioning correctly.
I threw my 22lr barrel back on after shooting the 17HM2 last week. Initial zero was off slightly to the left and with a few adjustments it just shot lights out. It’s amazing to watch a good barrel and ammo combo perform well when the stars align.
It is a Lothar Walther prefit. It’s shot some ridiculously good groups and some not so good groups. Overall I feel pretty comfortable claiming MOA or better accuracy.
I swapped barrels over to the 17 Mach2 for a fun morning of shooting. This little cartridge is an absolute sweetheart to shoot and groups at 100 yards were usually an inch or less. For ammo that cost me $8 a box it’s hard not to love it.
I snuck out to the range after work and finished the session with my RimX chambered by Manzella Precision. After 20 warmup shots with SK Standard I started on a fresh target and shot 2 mags worth. Average group of 0.34” was making me smile. Tough to beat that with yellow box ammo! Side note...
