IF the rings are original to the box,,they are similar to correct ones..But I show a part number for the M40 as being 523503

I don't know who won the stock,,but were any of you guys aware that the seller of the stock also had up an original 8/66 dated M40 barrel???

I have had several of these butt plates,think I still have 3 or 4. They are all sightly different is size. These are all take offs,so I guess the bottom line is that when the plates were installed,who ever the assembler was sanded the plates to match the wood???

Re: M40 Build Guide Greg,,as per Bill Riccas research,the 1st official contract for the nylon (seatbelt) M1 sling is 1969.So,if you're rifle is replicating an earlier date,then you want the cotton canvas M1 sling.
