It's very likely that mine could have been an outlier but I went through several of the o-rings. And the ball bearings would jam up with dust and such and wouldn't allow the coupler to disengage and then re-engage properly. Outside of that, it was great. I now use the VLTOR modpod on my AR. It's...
They're nice but the little rubber o-ring and the tiny ball bearings inside the couplers are a weak point and don't like to get the least bit dusty. It's a solid unit outside of that, at least in my experience, but I won't be buying another anytime soon.
Thanks for the heads up. I had actually just ordered two from JPE and received it the day before you post this. Sent them straight back, got my refund, and ordered two from dsgarms. Saved $80. Very much appreciated!
Didn't mean to skip yours. Thanks for the reply. I appreciate your thoughts and opinions. Like I said to Strykervet, it's always nice to hash these sorts of things out with people that know what they're talking about. Hopefully I've addressed your concerns. Let me know if you have any more...
Thanks for the reply. I tried to address all of the concerns that you had and explain my reasoning for the direction that I'm taking. If you have an questions, or comments, let me know. It's always a good thing to be able to hash out the details with others that know what they're talking about...
Thanks for the recs on the adj. gas block. I had never heard of the Syrac blocks before but they are intriguing. The JPE blocks are good for tuning to a specific load and lock tighting (is that really a word?) the set screw in place($1 to ORD, my googlefu skills, and knowing a few other guys...
Alright, I'm building an AR15 in 6.5 Grendel for shooting 600-1000yds from a bipod (this is not to be slung tactical rifle, strictly long distance). The 600yd mark is my primary goal with all distance between there and 1000yd as gravy. I'll list my "build sheet" and all of you with experience...
I'm currently building my own 6.5 Grendel. However, in my research for this build, I have come to the understanding that the upper for any of those cartridges can be run out of a standard AR15 upper receiver. The difference would be in the bolt/bolt face, head spacing, barrel, and magazine (if...
Honestly, I don't remember. It's a been a while and I only used that load for one comp. The higher node was 47.1 t0 47.5gr and my load was at 47.3. When I backed it down, I remember coming down almost 2 full grains. I shot a morning session with the higher load, took lunch and worked down to a...
It was in .308. It was a really, really hot load. Blew a few primers and that was all, but I found a lower node to work with so I back it down a good bit.
I used them in my F T/R bolt gun. Loved them. Was using Alliant PowerPro 2000 MR (slower burn ball powder for longer barrels) to push them, but I was also running a 30" tube in 1/10. I was seeing consistent sub-MOA groupings at all distances, usually in the .75 neighborhood. They have a great...
I have that same dvd set. Yes, I realize that it can be done. However, this guy is the farthest thing from being an expert. Also, his latest claim he uses 175gr PRVI factory loads and is still claiming that his twist ratio is 7 Contour. smh
The guy just told me 1/4MOA at 750 yards. And yes, I'm skeptical. Actually, I know that he's outright lying. I just wanted to make sure that there wasn't some sort of magical load combination that I wasn't aware of. I also asked him what the barrel's twist rate was (after posting my OP) and his...
I know of a guy trying to sell a rifle as described in the subject line and is advertising it as a true 1000yd bolt gun. I've shot F T/R with my own purpose built bolt gun and I have my own beliefs as to whether or not this 16" stick is capable at 1000yds. What are your thoughts on this rifle...
Before trying to blame the buffer or any other components for a clover leaf at 100m, I'd be more interested in knowing exactly just how much load development you've done for the rifle. Were you shooting factory loads, hand loads? There are many, many variables that come into play when...
Thanks for the explanation. I'm hoping to start a 9mm build for myself in the very near future and am just trying to learn what I can, however I can. Thanks again!
