New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
It comes with a lanyard in the hard case. Hang on, I’m out looking at coyotes with it (lanyard less!) but when I get back in I’ll see where it attaches.
Never tried to charge my V1 RH25 with that three-way cable that shipped with the RH25... kind of octopus with all the extra cords dangling off vs. a lightweight and trim 1' long USB-C. But, yeah, more secure jack, agreed. Trade offs!
The USB-C on my RH25v2 has a looser connection than the old Fischer, yeah, but on the plus side, you can use the USB-C to power the optic with an external battery pack if you want.
Interesting thing on that: On the previous models, only the more expensive 640 resolution RH25 had a mode for clip-on. It wasn't offered in the less-expensive 384 resolution RL25. But now both the RH25V2 and RL25V2 will have the clip-on function available. iRay decided the upgraded display and...
It does. I put a little Arca square on the bottom of the grip so I can use it handheld or tripod mounted easily. If I end up using the grip more, I'll probably 3D print a shorter and smaller grip that has built in Arca like a Swarovski spotter foot as well as a 1/4-20 female on the bottom.
I got one of these over Christmas 2022. Finally had time to put a quickie video of the little sugarcube thermal ($400) vs. a 640 res thermal ($7000) together.
Spoiler: It does surprisingly well for a little spotter/scanner. I'm totally bringing this into the deer blind for my nephew to use to...
I hadn't looked at it (or through it) until SHOT. Honestly blew right by it earlier, because the specs are almost identical to the RICO Alpha I have. I saw the 640 resolution, figured it was just a repackaging of the sexy-housing'd Alpha. Which was a huge mistake, because when I got to the booth...
Been playing around with the RICO Alpha 640 optic in the hills of Idaho (where it's freezing).
Over the summer I was using a RH25 as a clip-on in front of an ACOG 3x as well as a standalone, and I'm still undecided whether I prefer a clip-on or a dedicated magnified scope like the Alpha...
It's 4 hours optic runtime each/per battery.
(That's a super-conservative number: runtime is around 5 to 6 hours per when the batts are new). Only one battery fits into the optic at a time. I suppose if you had the optic plugged into an external pack you could hot swap them. Not a big deal to...
I think the concern is a little overblown as far as actual use goes. I captured some video of the RH25 RICO MICRO last week to see if recoil made the screen flicker. I imported the footage directly into Final Cut ProX at native resolution, and slowed it down 50%. Couldn't see any problems. So I...
I went and video'd a ten minute, boring clip of a silencer heating up when fired and then cooling down just to see what happens. Yep: at 5:00 minutes, it just keeps on recording, but the timer resets and the optic starts a new file. So it breaks all long videos into five-minute chunks. No...
Unfortunately, I don't have any game animals or varmints just outside my door right now, but for some reason, there were teenagers making noise and bouncing on a trampoline at midnight down the hill 177 yards from my house. So... black hot, midnight-trampolining truants you get!
Color Palettes...
...aaaand that would be what they're calling the "PICTAIL", optional, but IMHO should just come with the unit, because it's the install-it-and-forget-it solution. Half-Wilcoxy Dovetail, Half-1913 Rail (sorta).
1.) You could just use the machinegun mount + the MUM rail and gotten up and...
Seems to me that "clip on mode" has kinda the same end result as "helmet mode" in that:
"In HELMET MODE allows the RH25 display to be optimized for use on a helmet. In helmet mode, the screen size is reduced to 70% to be in unity (1×). To enter helmet mode: 1. Rotate the MICRO 180° (control...
"Turn it upside down — controls pointing toward the ground and shoe mount toward the sky — and get back to me. ;)
Both of mine are 0108 FPGA / HW revision."
Yeah, I walked around with it in helmet mode (upside down) a bit. FYI, the screen here says "FPGA-0101" and "HW-0102"
"When the unit is mounted normally, as over 90% of people will likely do, meaning the unit is right side up with the controls facing upward, there is NO Jell-O effect. It is only when you rotate the unit upside down, or invert it into helmet mode or hold it upside down that the Jell-O effect...
To export video, you can either:
• Run the included Y-cable from the optic to your USB port on a computer and download just like an external USB drive,
-or-
• Use the optic's WiFi, connect the app on your phone/iPad to the optic, and download video or stills from there to your phone's camera...
I think they did a really good job with the manual, and yes, when you've got the booklet and the unit in hand that would have made more sense. :)
The three zeros are, as far as I can tell, for whatever you want to use them on: 3 different caliber rifles, 3 different ammo loadings but in the...
