Oh, interesting. I ran into a similar issue with an MPA chassis and AI magazines. I had one Accurate Mag that would latch in and work. I'm afraid you're going to have to get the magazine they recommend or use a 10-rounder.
There are a couple shapes that don't look familiar by the butt-hook and the rear of the pistol grip to butt-hook transition. I would suggest a price of $700 to start.
Well the bottom would indicate they were made by/for Accuracy International. The top looks like an AICS magazine for the 308 family of cartridges. It sounds to me like the magazine catch is too long. If you were to hold a loaded magazine up into the stock will it feed the catridges.
Thank you all for working through this. I have a set screw that the hex key hole is getting worn and I'd like to replace the set screw before it's a problem.
Its curious though that the older ATs don't get surface rust after being exposed to precipitation. The explanation from AI was pretty lame. They're busy filling the pipe with the AT-XC. They don't want be bothered with AT or AT-X issues.
I thought the AI would have a better finish than what you're describing. I have an AI-AT rifle with serial number that starts with 15. I live in a semi-arid part of the country . My AT has been rained on a few times and I never did anything special to dry it off or oil it up. No rust anywhere.
You changed a lot of parts. You're going to have to check a number of things. 1. Firing Pin drop distance. You can usually measure this from the back of the shroud. I don't know if you're shroud and cocking piece will allow this. Looking for 0.210" to 0.250" 2. Firing Pin protrusion...
An ES of 15 is really quite low. It sounds like you are working with new or once fired Starline brass. Since the brass hasn't really been able to settle into a consistent sizing life cycle I would recommend taking 10 or 20 pieces and fire then process. After 3 or 4 firings start to monitor...
If it works fine with the sub-sonic ammo that would tell me the rifle and scope are fine. That leaves your hand loads as suspect. To get that sort of separation between shots the barrel muzzle is really moving when the bullet is launched. You need to try some other powder charge weights to...
