    Gunsmithing SW ohio gunsmith

Hand Loading for Long Range 4: Powderin' it

I ran the ladder test twice, with comparable results both times. I wanted to be sure to account for any of my inadequacies... 200 yds was the distance for the tests. It seemed sufficient for the .260 Remington I was developing. Ended up with sub 1/2 Moa groups to further refine with seating...

    Removing Cerakote

Acetone is a stronger solvent than any thinner. Try soaking your parts in that for a length of time to soften it, then scrub with a stiff bristle brush. If I remember correctly Cerakote lists some sort of info on an acetone soak time for their product(not just for prepping but for durability).

AX 260 brake or no brake?

A brake will help with reacquiring your target for a follow-up shot(if needed) by giving less muzzle jump. The side benefit to having it threaded is a can be readily installed later....It is not absolutley necessary but it is a "nicety"....
