WTF??? I originally responded in May of 2022. YOU quoted my post from 2022. I didn’t dig this up. And how is my response any later than your lapping compound? If you aren’t trying to be a smart-ass, you’re doing a great job without trying. FYI - almost anyone can remove 0.002” - 0.003”...
I just turn the bolt body 0.002”-0.003” before Cerakote. Lugs and primary extraction cam are untouched. Usually I can tell and have a pretty good history of bolt body diameters to know what dimension(s) are required in the factory Rem 700. Picked this up in a post from LRI years ago.
This can be done on a wooden stock….XLR cheek riser and stand-offs from Grainger supply. Threads on mine are 1/4-20, but i think he changed the thread pitch in the last couple years. Very economical and effective in my opinion if can cut and install the stand-offs yourself.
Full build….. Compass Lake Engineering Bartlein barrel. Also, made and installed alignment/anti-rotations pins in handguard and upper receiver. Do this on all clamp style handgaurds. Nice insurance and piece of mind.
I broke my viper trying to get a factory Rem barrel off. Had 2 others that wouldn’t budge either. To be fair my Short Action Customs vise wouldn’t break them either. There is not enough straight cylinder on the factory continue for the SAC to get a full seat.
This is a Lews Horton limited release SPS-LT Tactical in 1:10 twist and 20” barrel with tri-fluting. I’ve owned 2 of them (one threaded and one unthreaded. Both shit really well even in the SPS Varmint plastic factory stock. I put them both in new stocks. I sold the non-threaded version to...
I built my nine year old daughter a 224 Valkyrie bolt gun for the reasons you describe and for about $1500 in its first iteration. I used a Stiller Scout from PTG (yes, I’ve had the same issues as everyone else with PTG, but i have two laser reamers and one good action). The action in 6.8...
I’ve played with many Glocks and P80 builds and tons of aftermarket parts. That pic appears out of battery. It appears the slide is not fully engaged. If the slide is fully forward, the barrel chamber is too low (assuming all the dimensions are to spec). A quick search of “fitted” match...
I’ve posted earlier that I run my 7-6.5 PRC (28 TAC) in a medium action. I modified a 6.5 PRC-AW print to load out to medium action length with room for throat erosion if I needed/wanted to be close or on the lands. I posted some actual loaded lengths previously in this thread.
XLR cheek riser for their chassis fits many stock widths. This is an HS Precision. Uses epoxied in stand offs for mounting. I’ve installed about 15 of them. I have a few spares I keep around.
