I use lapua brass exclusively in my match rifle but just because there’s no prep and it’s really not that more expensive. I’ve shot it side by side with prepped lc and had the same result.
Most accurate 223 I’ve ever had was a factory Remington with a bugholes barrel nothing else done to it. I’m shooting a Origin with a bugholes prefit now and it won’t touch what that rifle would do.
It really depends on the type of shooting you are doing hunting, PRS, just general plinking. My PRS rifle became more accurate lighter. The less weight helped me move through stages quicker giving me more time to setup.
Maybe you should learn how to read he needs to get an accurate reading on it somehow. He can shoot it 600 yards and match up the bc with the drop to close to an accurate speed without a chrono. Your going spend more on bullets, powder primers and brass than the cost of a cheap chrono
Have you chronograph it I had a lot of varget I had to drop .5 to get back into the accuracy node it was shooting 60 FPS faster. Powder was will gather humidity over time also which will slow it down. I would say you need to switch your load. The barrel was probably still speeding up at 100...
Production division is a joke with the offerings from GAP and MPA. They are basically the same rifles people are running in open. I run tactical 223 because your limited to 77 grain and 223 or 308.
