I am looking to get myself a rifle with scope for training. Heavy calibers I have make big holes in my wallet and reloading takes forever. So I am thinking of cheaper alternatives. Would you kindly recommend a setup: caliber, rifle, scope? So far I can not think of anything better than a...
Hi all I know I have been kinda "troll" lately but still you got to see this. This is my S&B lens with funky scratches on it. I have no idea how it happened. The scope had always sun shade on it and caps of cause. So be it. Now, look at the reddish blob around the scratches. What is this? It...
Hi all Never mind the thread subject. It's just a little trick to get some attention :-) I was looking at Hxx reticles and really liked the idea. One concern though. The "horrible" word with regard to the reticles came from a respected competitive shooter and instructor. His argument was...
Hi all. Have you seen picatinny or other interfaces for SVT-40 which would allow mounting a decent modern scope? What would you recommend for this rifle? I would imagine 3x9 or fixed 8 will be OK fit for the rifle of this caliber and precision. Thank you
Last time I cleaned my SAKO TRG-42 rifle I noticed severe erosion of bolt face. I had a little spot before but this time it was horrible. I looked at the fired cases and here they are: Hornady Superperformance 300 WinMag 180 grain SST Federal Gold Medal 300 WinMag 190 grain Matchking BTHP...
Is there anything on the market that can get real time wireless feed from portable (aka Kestrel) wind speed/direction sensor? I'd like to put the sensor at 400-600 meters and be able to grab the feed by a laptop or PDA.
I think S&B cheated here: (7-5)/5*100 = 40%. I would call it 7-25. The reason is that from 5x to approximately 7x the field of view remains the same. The sight picture just gets smaller towards to 5x. Here is a video I shot http://youtu.be/R3HjL7ueZgY...
What kind of mounts are you running on your TRG-42s? I have 300 WinMag with Near MFG rail and Nightforce .8" Ultra light rings for NF NSX 3.5-15x50. The problem with the set-up is that the rail is around 10 mm high and I have to use 10 mm spacer for the cheek piece. I want the cheek piece to be...
Hi all What do you think is a reasonable price for a spotting scope for shotting beyond 1000 meters? What kind of spotting scope parameters matter at long range? Any suggestions on the brands to look at? Let say I have 25x rifle scope. Do I need spotting scope at all?
Hi all How do you deal in practice with shadowing effect caused by vignetting in some scopes aka S&B 5-25x56 PMII? I find it very disorienting. I always mistake the shadow "by design" with shadow by my mistake. What kind of elevation ranges you scopes can handle without showing the effect? For...
