Re: IBCT Scout Platoon Carring a log over your head and sucking sand for hours separates the ones who have the drive from the ones who want the patch. It also shows who will be able to reach down and grab their sack and drive on, once they're out on the 'real world mission scenario...
Re: Shooting glass and the findings at my last class We did this in the class at Jacksonville PD. We shot through bonded automotive windshields as well as double pane residential window glass The windshield glass separated the bullet from the jacket, and caused a LOT of collateral damage...
Re: Gear Queer or Well Equiped? I wore a Blackhawk Omega dropleg holster in Iraq. It was absolutely the worst holster I've ever had. I literally GAVE it away to an airsofter, and even then after telling him how my M9 flew out of it while running during a firefight. He didn't seem to care, so...
Re: marine corps mark That's pretty cool. I've seen similar red tape, patches, or marks on Army soldiers in training and it usually signified soldiers with prior heat-stroke or other heat injuries, who were more susceptible to it in the future and thus required closer monitoring...
Re: Adding Veg Sadly, this thread degenerated from a possibly useful topic to one I am not going to touch with a ten-foot pole. Just remembering what my mother said, if you can't say anything nice... What a shame, would have been some nice technical info to garner, a subject I was interested...

Re: IBCT Scout Platoon S4B, Thanks, thats very helpful information. I knew I'd have to reclass to 11B, I'm familiar with FTIG as I've been there for all my NCOES schools. The 1SG did mention they had 19D's but knew I was specifically looking at 11B for the sniper section. He said there was a...
Gents, Not sure if this is the right forum, but I didn't see a 'general topics' so here goes. Considering going back in the Guard. A local unit is an HHC for a battalion in an IBCT and has a scout platoon. These are honest-to-god 11B-B4 coded slots, and I've been told by members of the unit...

Gents, Awhile back I picked up one of the Ontario USMC bayonets. I've got the knife only - no scabbard. I'd like to locate an original USMC scabbard to go with it. I scoured the pawn shops and surplus shops around Lejeune when I went down there for a class - no luck. Anyone have any ideas how...

Re: LEO SNIPER SCHOOL FREEEE!!!! Deadly, sorry I couldn't catch up with you when I was down there. The Sniper I course ran 0730 til 2200 each day! Next year I'm going to try to do them both back to back.
Re: radio communication question (military) I remember a little black keyboard box that hooked into a SINCGARS that our commo guys used, but I think it was more for entering encryption codes rather than sending burst messages.
Re: LEO SNIPER SCHOOL FREEEE!!!! Just got back from the Sniper I course. Excellent training, got soaked the entire time. Temps were from 50-80 degrees (and very evident ballistic changes during those temp swings). I'll try to put together a short write up soon.
Re: blackhawk dropleg holster At first I thought this question was about the Blackhawk Omega dropleg, which I would vehemently NOT recommend. I had my M9 fly out of the holster while sprinting during a mortar attack. I subsequently got a lanyard. I now use a Safariland 6004 and it's great...
