I have a 22" pencil barrel howa mini in 6.5G as well, but it does not shoot anywhere near as nice as the bull barrel. I would give up weight before I switched to the stock howa pencil barrel.
Actually, I see that bell and carlson sporter is only 2lbs so just switching to their stock will offer the largest possible change. I know the Jtac elf owl is lighter, but I am not a fan of it.
Just thinking, not necessarily doing. My go-to hunter is a howa mini 6.5Grendel in a boyds laminate tactical/varmint stock. All dressed up she weighs 10lbs loaded and I'm wondering is there much I could actually shave off of it? My brother in law wants to do some deep country hunts this year...
I enjoy Garand Thumbs tests because they treat them as just a bunch of friends goofing off and it's fun to watch them play around. I do wish that they would have tossed a tavor 12 into the mix for funsies.
WAR is my favorite place to shoot. I usually close out there year there with their October match and its usually been cool but wind hasn't been terrible, usually holding one far edge of the target. Max range is 1250 or so. The first time I shot there I used a stock remington 700P in 308 with a...
I had it fold once during a PRS match (thankfully during the load and make ready portion), and honestly I haven't needed to fold it otherwise. Its one of their early stocks and I think the locking latch is a little worn. So I just wish it was the fixed version because it is offering me...
I didn't have any issues with installation and no special inletting was needed. It was easier taking the action off of the chasis, though I did have to get the barrel that came on the gun professionally removed as it was on crazy tight. I'm not sure if it is as accurate as the aftermarket barrel...
I love the rifle, its been good to me including a 1st round hit on a 5inch circle at 1000yrds and a 1st round hit at 1250yrds. My skill as a shooter has gone to shit since I had my first child and never get to practice anymore, but the TRG has been there for me in all but 2 of my PRS matches...
My TRG as it sits now with KRG barrel in 6.5man bun, KRG folder (I wish it was the fixed version) and March 4.5-28 in a sphur 4701. I'm also a member of the 5 mag club :D
I'm curious how they fed from the stock trg mags. My winchester m70 in 6br fed fine from aics mags, but the action was cut too sloppy for the mags and all feeding issues I ever had was because the whole mag pitched forward, not from the cartridge.
I think I answered my own question tonight. I had a deer in the field at 200 yards. Currently I have a sightmark wraith 2-16 on a rifle and an atm thermal spotter. They are very close in cost. The NV can clearly identify the deer as a deer, whereas the thermal spotter is just some pixel blobs...
I originally had intended to snag either a steiner c35 or swarovski tm35, both of which are msrp 5k but deals place them sub 3k. For 100-300 yards, at the 3k price point, what would offer the best image clarity? A clip on NV like AGM or one of the thermals above? As listed in my other thread...
There is also a roll pin holding the rail to the receiver. Once you get the machine screws out the rail will still be firmly held in place. You can pull straight up on the rail to unseat it from the pin, do not try to get the rail to come off with sideways pressure.
I also use the sphur 4701 that locks into the dovetail. I haven't had any complaints about it. And just like the rifle above, I have an older version of the krg folder. I like it but I wish that I had the fixed version. The locking clamp is getting old and I've had it pop open and fold while...
Live in a rural area and deal with predation of my flock. Last year it was fox with a den not far from the house. I ran a 22lr with a sightmark wraith. It worked ok for the short range (under 100 yards) but this year I have a lot of coyote droppings up close to the house and can hear their calls...
Sorry, just saw the tag. I like it, but I had very heavy mirage in the spring and it felt like the march did slightly worse than my PST 2. If I had time when I sighted it in I would have compared the mirage and image quality to my other scopes. I did run the march at a PRS match with heavy...
While it might sound like an odd comparison, I am trying to get a rifle set up for a run-n-gun match in NC. I'm not an AR guy so I threw one together from parts because this rifle is rarely going to get used. As such it has a fat ass 16" bull barrel that a buddy gave me and she's a thick girl...
