F T/R Competition Bipod for Accuracy International for F-TR

used a AICS 1.5 with a Sinclair bipod last year for F T/R. Worked just fine.

    Range Report 308 Win, 208 AMax, RL17

Not 4350, but am trying Hunter with the 208. Accuracy was good, speed a bit lower than I'd like. Am going to give 2000-MR a try, as it seems to be a little slower than RL15/Varget but a bit faster than RL17 and has done very well with 185 class bullets for me.

How much change in accuracy from Lee dies to Match grade dies?

Don't care for the lee seater. Yes, they work well enough but I prefer the rcbs competition seater with the window or a seater with a mic head - the hornady seater works well for me with the micrometer head.

    82 & 90 LRT Bergers in 223

Like the op I have built a 223 for economical f t/r. PP2000MR and the 80gr berger vld has me right at 2800fps. The nodes are narrow however - 1/10th of a grain does make a difference. That is the challenge of the 223 though. Small case, small variations. Off the lands about .03 or so. Have also...

.308 Heavies and Ramshot Hunter or some version of 4350?

Anyone using Hunter or one of the 4350s with 208gr and up bullets in a 308 Win loaded long? I'm beginning to work with Hunter and 208 Amax - wondering if others have walked that path before.

Is 6.5 Creedmoor a viable SA cartridge?

Nosler has brass for the 6.5CM now - ammo can't be far behind!

New to Sniper's Hide- and I just picked up a Remmy 700 5R Milspec .308

I'm going to be a party pooper here on the whole mil/mil tactical scope thing. Key words: Brush hunting, 300 yard range. Exposed turrets, adjustable parallax and brush hunting aren't the greatest mix. If the goal is to do a lot more tac comps than deer hunts, well - there ya go - but if you...

Ultrasonic Cleaner - what's best to put in ?

use lots of water to rinse. I take mine from the cleaner and put it in a Tupperware (or other container laying around that is clean) and set it in the sink under the tap. I run water to fill and dump several times - usually hot water, but no matter there. Lots of rinse usually leaves the...

WTF... I mean WFT The Worlds Finest Trimmer.

Are you getting a wide 'bur' on the case mouth? If you mash to hard (feed to fast) the cutter sometimes smears a bit. Slow your feed rate and see if it improves.

Advice on first steps with .223 Remington 700 build

The spring doesn't turn it into a Jewell, but it does improve things pretty significantly. Trade offs. Rem factory triggers seem to be fairly robust, but have limits on how crisp, how light. Jewell seem to be more sensitive to gunk. Same kind of thing to consider with other triggers. How...

    Gunsmithing Remington factory stocks

The cheapy SPS-V (which is a great starter rifle!) stock has changed a little bit over the years. It is better now than it used to be, but still not anywhere near as good as a B&C, McMillan, HS, or Manners. They seem to have added some ribbing for reinforcing the front end some. Still has a...

Advice on first steps with .223 Remington 700 build

Nope - look again. The 1962 Until 2006 Varmint Trigger Spring is what you are looking for. Smooth front face trigger, comes on the ADLs.

Advice on first steps with .223 Remington 700 build

There are two (for the most part) triggers in the current Remington lineup - one has a little set screw on the trigger - the other doesn't. Both are adjustable to an extent by an 'end user.' Take a look at 'Ernie the gunsmith' for both trigger identification and lighter springs.

    Accurately machined Remi 700 sps-v?

It takes about 2 evenings to bed a rail. Could have it done by now! Yes, you are probably being over paranoid. For the 'cost' involved -I think being paranoid is not a 'bad' thing.

Advice on first steps with .223 Remington 700 build

The Weaver rail works just fine. I've used a couple of them in both the 20moa and the 0moa flavors. Get good rings - lord knows I spent almost 5 times more for the rings than the base. I like the Seekins stuff, but there are other goodies out there. I'm becoming a fan of the B&C stocks as an...

    Accurately machined Remi 700 sps-v?

All it shows is that the rail and reciever are both in agreement. They could both be banana shaped - and that is not a big deal. The idea is that the rail should not be introducing MORE stress and deformation to the system - so sometimes we bed them.

    Hornady Sonic Cleaner WTF ?

I microwave the solution to a boil before it goes into the unit. 2 8 minute cycles and the brass comes out very clean unless it was VERY tarnished (range pickup brass.) Trying to decide if I'm going to spend my pennies on a tumber and SS media or just buy more bullets and powder.. :) I do...

    Looking at a Remington

Did something very similar - started with a sps varmint, added a vortex pst with seekins rings, it spent some time in an aics but is residing in a b&c butt hook with a ptg 'stealth.' Worked very well for my competition gun last year with 155 lapua and 185 vld Berger out to 600 yards. The throat...

    Which Rem 700 stock

McMillan game scout. A-style grip, toned down forearm and available with adjustable cheek now. Mine wear ptg bottom units. About 700ish and a long wait... Also have an aics- find the change back and forth is fine. The b&c ltr stock (butt hook) also seems pretty nice for a bunch less. Have one...
