Watch Out for Scammers!
We've now added a color code for all accounts. Orange accounts are new members, Blue are full members, and Green are Supporters. If you get a message about a sale from an orange account, make sure you pay attention before sending any money!
Well, I've taken the plunge. TNV/PVS-14, some other stuff and a V1 on order. Considering this is my first real entry into the NV world, I'll probably have some trial and error. I hope the V1 is something I got right the first time.
My search-fu is garbage tonight. I've got a helmet and shroud. Things are moving forward and I'm now looking at mounts. #1 on my list for mounts is the Wilcox L4 G24. I believe the vertical and depth adjustments are sufficient to fit my fucked up head. Considering eye, head, and helmet fit...
Yup. I forgot to mention that Rainier does sell them with all three main springs. IIRC Geissele will send out the other trigger springs pretty cheap if you find Rainier out of stock and order elsewhere. For me: Single stage triggers will be "shitty" mil-spec LPK triggers ground down by...
Match. I have one on my OBR and it is absurd. It is REAL light though. Spend some time adjusting it, testing it, and re-adjusting it. I believe the main spring is 1.5lbs and the second stage is paper thin and maybe half a pound at most. Read the information, watch the videos and then do it again...
Ah a lovely back and forth between representatives of two major players in this arena. At least I've been lead to believe they're both major players. I'm not sure exactly how to feel about knowing that I'm going to probably end up spending thousands of dollars with one of them.
Wow, those images are pretty remarkable. Any chance you'd be willing to take an image off the thermal under really horrid conditions, something like a climate controlled room? Thanks a bunch, its starting to look like a NV is a good place to start, but thermal is a great addition.
Mr_Happyface - likely that I am retarded here. Your bit on thermal is pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. From what I'm understanding, it seems like thermal is exceptional under certain conditions and possibly damn near worthless under others. Whereas the deficiencies with NV can be fixed...
OK so my search-fu is busted and I didn't find enough answers to my questions. I understand that the systems are vastly different, but I don't understand their strengths and weaknesses relative to each-other. This is a situation where I absolutely don't know what I don't know and I may end up...
Go with that. I have never once suggested that aluminum was an inappropriate material for anything. My vehicle has an aluminum engine block and head with ~180k miles, the broom handle next to me is aluminum, the can in front of me is aluminum... hell the chassis of the computer I'm using to...
Apparently you didn't. I mean alert the aerospace industry and all because there have been oodles of examples of poor design, poor choice of materials or both. AND you were a fucking cock about it in the process. I'll pass. Not because it couldn't be done, but because I really don't give a...
Cool beans Joe, and way to be a prick about it. So F-22s are made out of the same shit as the soda can in front of me? Sweet. Except no, they aren't. Similar maybe, but absolutely not the same. Actually there are probably literally thousands of blends that fall under the name "Aluminum"...
I personally avoid Aluminum mounts in general. Not all Aluminum is created equal and I'm not saying the remainder of this post is remotely relevant to the discussion. Some forms of Aluminum can "Cold Flow" and actually loosen up over time. I've seen this countless times on car wheels...
