    Training Courses Crosswinds Precision

Just stumbled upon these guys while doing my typical early morning web-surfing. Anybody take a class from them? Nice website, reasonably priced, and really close for me.

Rifle Scopes Should even consider using a two piece mount?

Picked up a new rifle, Savage Model 16 Bolt Action in 6.5 Creed, and now it's time to mount some glass. I have two other precision rifles, Remington MilSPec 5R and a home grown AR15. I installed a single piece 20moa base for 5R and NF Unimount (20moa) on the AR. While the Savage isn't listed...

    Photos Photo Bucket Work Around

I know a lot of guys here use photobucket to post pics: this work work around was posted on another forum I frequent, handloadersbench.com: Apparently Google Chrome and Foxfire have found a way to access the photos that Photobucket.com does not now allow you to post to 3rd party sites anymore...

    Can't see my avatar

I have tried to use an avatar in my profile, but some how I an't seem to get to go. Typically I view the forum on my Samsung Galaxy tablet. When I try to add an avatar image with it, the sizing tool doesn't work. However, I have added an avatar image while logged on through my desktop pc; at...

    Bullet Jump

Today I ran three different powder charges in two different bullet jump scenarios in my Remington Milspec 5R in .308. I had no preconceived notions of of what to expect, although I was hoping to see something. I really didn't. Bullets were 175 SMKHP Varget powder; 42, 42.5 and 43 Grains...

    First Look at Bullet Jump

Happy New Year Snipers Hide! I'm finally to a point in my handloading progression where setting OAL off the ogive and testing for bullet jump makes sense. (This is for my .308 win) One of my shooting amigos was kind enough to give me a RCBS precision mic kit for Christmas and I've been...

Retrofitting DI System with a Piston System

Any of you guys familiar with the Adams Arms piston system? Yesterday while cleaning my RRA AR15 I starting thinking how nice a piston driven rifle would be. It seems like a nice way to go. One thing I wonder is how to mount my sling: Magpul has this product that I could clip to.

    SD Round for 5.56/.223

I've been seeing mention of the MK318 Round from Federal; apparently recently adopted by the Marines. It uses a 62 grain bonded bullet. Haven't been able to find just the projectile from this round. Does anyone know if it's even available? I contacted Federal, but haven't heard back. Bottom...

When to use a Full Length Die

I've been loading for my 5R Remington MilSpec (.308) for several months now and some of my brass has upwards of 4 - 5 firings: the original factory + whatever I've loaded. So far I've only used a neck die. When should I run them through a full length die?

    Cheek Weld While Prone (Problems...)

Yesterday I was out shooting and when I took my .308 Rem 700 R5 Milspec (factory stock) to task, I had a horrible time getting a any kind of cheek weld in the prone position. I couldn't get proper eye relief for my scope and couldn't hit a 400 yard target to save my a**. My shooting partner...

My Lucas Bore Guide Arrived Today

I had emailed Mike several weeks ago about a bore guide and he replied to send him an email towards the end of May to get on his June run. So I did. Again he responded quickly to get all my information. I sent him a check so he knew I was for real. Then, a couple days later I get an email...

    Handloading for Distance versus Precision

I'm a relative new guy to the world of precision/long range shooting, and have been reloading/handloading for a couple of years. As all of us know this age of high speed communications and the amount of information available can be overwhelming to say the very least. My question(s) to this...

    Stuck Cleaning Patches

This seems like a silly thing to post about, but I have a problem with cleaning patches getting stuck in my Remington 700 5R barrel. I am using a J Dewey rod and Brass Jag, and some patches that are labeled '.30 Cal, 2" x2" ' If I put a whole patch down the barrel, it'll get stuck. If I cut...

Attaching a Bipod; fore or aft sling swivel stud

I am in the process of setting up my new rifle; Remington 700 5R Milspec in .308. Which is the preferred attachment location? The fore or aft front sling swivel stud?
