    New 17

Re: New 17 Took it out shooting again yesterday and had a lot more misfires, looks like light primer strikes. usually if I lift the bolt and close it again it would fire the second time but a couple of times I had to eject the shell and spin it a little to get it to fire. Its kind of wierd...

    New 17

Re: New 17 I have been wanting to upgrade the scope on my 270, its wearing a bushnell banner right now, not a great scope but a lot better than what is on my 17 now. I will probably swap it over and try again. I want to get some of the 20 grn pills to try also, all I had today were the 15.5...

    New 17

Re: New 17 Took it shooting this morning and had good and bad results. On the good side, the trigger is excellent, light and crisp with no adjusting. I got several decent groups considering that it now has exactly 65 rounds thru it, and is no where near being broken in. On the bad side, the...

    New 17

Re: New 17 Weedeater line.. never would have thought of that thanks. And yes the barrel free floats, but with a bipod on the front it doesnt take much pressure at all to bend it to the point it does contact the barrel. I may end up breaking out the marine tex until I can get the boyds.

    New 17

Just went and picked up a new savage, but now I have a simple question. I know you should always clean a new rifle before shooting, but this is my first 17 so I dont have a small enough cleaning rod to fit the barrel. No one in town sells one small enough that is any kind of quality. I was...

    Hornady C.S.

Re: Hornady C.S. I lost the small primer seater for the hornady hand primer (completely my fault), called them up to order a new one and they said ok its in the mail, just like that no charge. Great cs from them for sure.

    Short barrel 357 loads

I have a lcr in 357 I'm trying to find some practice loads for, currently carrying some 145 gr silvertips that my grandfather actually carried when he was a police officer, but I only have about half a box of them and dont want to use them all up practicing. Anyone have any recommendations for...

Hunting & Fishing Your longest kill...

Re: Your longest kill... Whitetail doe, 220 yds, open sight win 94. I put the sights where the shoulder met the sky and she didnt go 20 yards, right through the boiler room. Its funny, everything I have shot with my 270 has been within 50 yards. Seems like smokepoles and leverguns are the...

Re: Ruger M77 trigger oh yeah, thanks to those who replied and helped this noob out. I used to call it good enough as long as I could stay minute of deer at 150 but now I'm wanting to see what this thing is really capable of. Oh yeah, and the reason I couldnt afford a drop in trigger was I...

    Gunsmithing Ruger M77 trigger

Re: Ruger M77 trigger It is the tang saftey model, according to the ruger website it was made in 87. I have adjusted the trigger back a good bit but its still a touch heavier than I would like, but much better than it has been. It was so heavy when shooting prone with a sling I was pulling...

    Gunsmithing Ruger M77 trigger

Hey guys beeen hanging out doing a lot of reading but have a quick question. I have an old style ruger m77 in 270 that I want to lighten the trigger weight on a little. I looked at a timney for it but first I wanted to see if I could get by with the factory trigger. Is there any good videos that...

    Any reloading kits worth it?

Re: Any reloading kits worth it? I'm just getting started loading rifle ammo myself, but here are my thoughts. Hornady single stage press as mentioned above is great. Thier scale that comes in the kit, not so much, its battery operated, shuts off after about 30 seconds of inactivity, and...
