    5.56 dual ejector BCGs

Depends on how compressed the shoot schedule is. If you’re burning down 500rds per day, week-after-week, you would lean to 3k, but barrels will be toast pretty fast as well. Guys in The Unit cited barrel replacement every 2 weeks for 723, 727, and M4A1. Lighter barrels will shoot out faster...

    5.56 dual ejector BCGs

Biggest appeal with dual ejectors is probably longer spring life and lengthened spring replacement schedules, along with more consistent ejection pattern. But as said so far, the single ejector just works, and has done so since 1957.

So another thread makes me ask this ?

From 2005-2016, I was in Finland 2-4x per year, sometimes living there for a year, so you shoot in weather that is hard to find in the US unless you live near the US-Canadian border in the Midwest or Alaska.

Need scope mount for AR-15 with carry handel

Get the Smith or an ARMS carry handle mount and some rings for the scope. You will also want a cheek piece. Set it up like this if you’re limited to your Colt H-BAR ( I would want a National Match upper free-floated, not a typical 20” non-floated upper):

Same Range: It’s one of the main reasons I like Cerakote so much.

12.5 Grendel vs 14.5 6mm ARC your opinion counts

123gr ELD-M is slightly softer, opens up more due to lack of cannelure and mechanical crimp. Most report tighter groups, but I honestly think barrel quality and chambering job are bigger factors. I’ve shot composite groups of 123gr SST and 120gr Scenar-L at 200yds that were barely over 2” with...

So another thread makes me ask this ?

I live in Utah, where the weather requires you to either bring a bikini or snow suit, so if you like shooting, you will adjust as necessary. Colorado was the same. Shooting isn’t just a hobby for me. I haven’t done "fun-only" shooting until recently as I’m taking my youngest boy out every...

12.5 Grendel vs 14.5 6mm ARC your opinion counts

QuickLoad’s modeling doesn’t match up with reality in Grendel for whatever reasons. It will show pressures 9,000- 14,000psi higher than actual pressure test breeches. Go look at Hodgdon’s pressure data and enter the loads into QL and watch it kick out insane numbers. Not sure what it is with...

12.5 Grendel vs 14.5 6mm ARC your opinion counts

I would either do the Bootleg BCG or a RifleSpeed adjustable gas block. Whatever gas block you use, it should be sealed to the journal, not slip-fit and set-screwed. Slip-fit + set-screwed is generally a recipe for the block to come loose and to leak. You can ask PF to offer a pinned one for...

12.5 Grendel vs 14.5 6mm ARC your opinion counts

If you want an easy button in 2 different loads, you could do 100gr ELD-VT and 123gr ELD-M, done. 100gr ELD-M seems like it would be nasty in close quarters, since it’s a varmint round. It has already been used to take hogs and exhibits explosive results as designed, but I think it’s meant...

ArmaLite had a ton of growth after the AWB expired. They took a while to do the AR-10A with SR-25 mag compatibility, but did it in the early 2010s. A lot of guys prefer the M14 pattern steel mags because they allow longer COL and they work. I just think ArmaLite didn’t keep up with the modern...

12.5 Grendel vs 14.5 6mm ARC your opinion counts

What I’m seeing is that for short range with lighter bullets of the same weight, Grendel also has more mv and flatter trajectory, it’s just that the 6mm has factory bullet options ranging in weights from 55gr-75gr that don’t exist in 6.5mm. Lowest 6.5mm weight is 80gr Hammer HTs. In the 6mm...

You can also do a Criterion for $425 from PF. Someone had a complete PF Bartlein 12” Grendel with billet receivers for a great price not too long ago. I just checked and the listing is gone now.

12.5 Grendel vs 14.5 6mm ARC your opinion counts

My initial experience with 6.5 Grendel was not impressive. I was shooting .260 Rem primarily at the time, so I was used to pretty high velocities with 130gr VLDs. I thought I would land on sixes as a special snowflake and immediately get great results with 123gr Scenars from a 16 Grendel...

12.5 Grendel vs 14.5 6mm ARC your opinion counts

If I was told I had to standardize all my AR-15s into one configuration, it would be 12” 6.5 Grendel suppressed. If I could go back in time for my first Grendel, it would have been 12” instead of 16”. There is no practical difference between them downrange.

I’m talking about samples of scores of guns, not single samples from the mid-1990s. In just a 30-day period over 20 years ago, I transferred 86 SR-25s one year, had my own AR-10T from 2002 manufacture to compare, and then have kept my finger on the pulse of large frames all along since then...
