Is there an option to use our own rifle/ammo? I am shopping around for classes in PA but i would prefer to use my own rifle and handloads as that is what I will be using when I leave the class.
I am developing a device that will detect hits on steel targets and send a signal to a unit that the shooter has next to him. It will use a microcontroller and and Lora modules to transfer the data to a unit that is next to the shooter and will have a...
Still working on it. I learned a valuable lesson about giving out too much information on what I want to do on an open forum. Others are already looking at turning this into an open source project and selling it themselves.
Hit counter would be easy. Just need to add a display to the station that stays with the judge and have it count each hit, have a reset button to reset the counter between shooters. I am looking at 802.11 LR on a ESP 32 now as people are getting 10KM with a large directional antenna so 1km...
Ok, I will be in touch with the five people who responded once i get the working prototype sorted. I appreciate the help, please be patient I am still in the experimentation stage. A light on the target could work but I am trying to maximize battery life and have a minimal amount of the device...

I dont walk around a lot. I am on the ground but i just sit on a log i find hence the heavy barrel. Simple but it works, dont own hunting land (i get deer in the yard almost every night but the neighbors would get rather upset if i shot one.) So i cant build a stand.
I am picking up a budget deer rifle and i don't have a 6.5 creedmore yet so that is the caliber I am going with. Other than the stock are there any glaring issues with a heavy barrel axis ii rifle for primarily hunting and occasional target fun out to 1000?(different scope for each purpose of...
take out the foam, toss your soft case in the hard case, then when you get to where you are going you don't have to deal with hauling around a hard case (saw it on james yeager's channel)
this method will get you past 1000 yards. Since a hit is only a binary 1 or 0 data transfer rate won't be an issue (unless you want to use a camera module.
*disclaimer* This post is scatter brained because I was brainstorming as i was typing. You could use an esp8266 or esp 32 as your MCU for your sensor downrange and use the WiFi function to send the signal back to another MCU at your shooting position and have it light up a led or set off a...
Nothing for us 308 folks for now i guess. At the price i will stick with the ELD-Ms for now anyway even if i could buy them in 168-175. I was buying 168 ELD-Ms from bigdaddyunlimited for 26 bucks a box of 100.
depending on how far you shoot I would stick with the GMM with the match kings. (in my gun at least) you have to handload in order to get good results from secant ogive bullets. SMKs are tangent and from my experience very jump friendly so factory loaded ammo works well
have to prove it with more groups but after OCW test this is what i got, i haven't seen much for this bullet so posting and will update after more groups. 168 Hornady ELD Match 43.7 gr Varget Winchester twice fired brass cases trimmed to 2.005 length to ogive: 2.245 chamber length to ogive...
i got that part, but when i measure the inside of the mag with calipers, the mag is 2.880" so how far past the spec'd 2.86" can i go aka how close can i get to the front of the mag before it causes issues
what is the minimum clearance for the tip of the bullet inside a magazine? i am using PMAG aics 5 round magazines and i am wondering what is the minimum distance from tip of the bullet to the front wall of the mag when the cartridge is seated the whole way to the rear of the mag
