    Re: Beginner rifle I want 308 because of ammo compatibility with my other guns and availability. 30-06 is another but more of a last resort. I am competing in the ofasts sniper shoot next year and need it by then. I have experience out to about 300 yards.

    I am looking for a rifle that is good out to about 700 meters I have decided on 308 and I only have a budget of $350. I have a scope and bipod I just need a rifle
