I've never been behind the illuminated xtr3, but the old one is significantly better than a viper in every way. When it comes to glass quality, I even prefer the xtr3 over my MK5's. In mild conditions, they may look close to the untrained eye, but in harsh conditions, they really stand apart.
I only have experience with one so far. A 6.5 creed prefit. But it shoots everything I throw down it very well, and cleans easily. I have 1k rounds on it and judging by the fire cracking and wear, or lack thereof; I should get more out of it than previous barrels. I'm working on 2 builds...
I've ordered multiple barrels from Anthony for tikkas. All nut barrels, but they've all been excellent and are usually at your doorstep in a week or two. He'll make a shouldered barrel, but last time I checked he wanted you to send in the action.
I've only had experience with one so far. An osprey tikka prefit. While tuning a load for it I couldn't get it to shoot over a 1/2" group, it shot everything so well it's stupid. Planning on ordering some more soon.
Yes, I'd buy again. They've done everything I have expected. PRS: ranging targets out to 1200 yds on a bright sunny day is about max. Darker/cloudy conditions they'll go to what is advertised. I don't use the ballistics for matches, just to confirm range to target. Hunting: This is where they...
If it were me, I'd go custom just off what you will be using it for. If it was a hunting rifle factory would be ok because factory options all come with lighter barrel contours. An MTU or larger barrel is what you'll want if you're just laying down and shooting. You'll get better accuracy...
So you already have a long action setup you don't want to modify for the 300 PRC. You're worried 6.5 might not have the punch of a 30 cal. The belt on a WM is no big deal when reloading, like said above it's just an easy bitch when comparing newer cartridges because it's not needed. If you...
Tikka ctr will shoot great from the start and is solid enough to build off of later. $1100 Euro optic still has gen2 pst's with the 2c reticle on sale for $550-$650. You get alot of scope for that price. Add in some good rings for $100 and you'll be ready to go for $1850. As far as other...
Same here. However I'm giving one or two of these a try instead of the gen3 razor. Not saying they're better, but it seems like you're getting a ton for your money.
Tikka lite- $625 trigger spring- $10 sterk bolt knob- $100 rail- $50 Prefit barrel $400-$700 depending on nut vs. shouldered. barreled action can be had between $1200 and $1500. This leaves room for almost any chassis or stock.
