Gunsmithing After market adjustable cheek piece by Joe Ducos

5 oz or so give or take if you do a clean job of it and don't go overboard with materials. The LRI isn't anywhere near as light as they advertise it to be. He needs to update his web info to reflect the actual total assembly weight with the mounting hardware included.

Gunsmithing Help with making a dummy round.

You can kill elk out to 1K with the 168 class bullet. The heavy hybrids advantage is wind across big canyons and such. I'd try the 175 Elite if you think your needs will be long and windy and if not go the easier route with 168's. Put a dummy together at your desired OAL, mark the bullet @ .282"...

Gunsmithing Help with making a dummy round.

The bullet link from Midway is a 30 Cal. You building a 7 or 30? The closest 7mm hunting hyb to the 7mm 180 Target Hybrid is the 175 Elite Hunter. The Elite Hunters are a hybrid design.

Gunsmithing Help with making a dummy round.

Maybe, you might end up with .055" FB and maybe not. It's why I referenced bullet lot. Berger can easily vary that .015" and sometimes more in lot to lot variation. What I have may not be what you have and what you buy today may not be what you buy tomorrow. As an example the current Berger spec...

    Depending on bullet lot a 7mm RSUAM w/Berger 180 Hyb w/.040" FB = 2.950 OAL touching lands.

    Gunsmithing Lets Talk Lights

Can't help with LED's but I have these in T5HO (54W), white powder coat, enhanced alu reflectors and acrylic prismatic diffusers. I have one fixture per ~125sq ft. My ceiling height averages 10 1/2' and these work very well. http://www.alumen8e.com/documents/specsheets/highlow/e_lbaw246_form.pdf

Gunsmithing Hard Cocking rifle? Please help

How much pin fall does it have? It's the measured difference between the pin in the cocked position to the fired position.

Gunsmithing Hard Cocking rifle? Please help

How much pin fall does it have? Edit: You don't say if it has the factory pin and spring or not. What does it have for a pin and spring?

Gunsmithing Hard Cocking rifle? Please help

Listen to this man, his answer is about as good as it gets. I'll add: If the pin fall is in the range Remington designed it to have it will have some cock on close, maybe not as much as yours may have but it will have some.

    Gunsmithing 700 bolt swap question

Should be fine with AI mags. Rail width is the same between the two but rail length and bevels are different so no go with std mag boxes. Edit: The bottom of the 223 feed rails are not beveled so I can't say for sure an AI mag will fit. Usually there is some clearance on a 308 action with an...

exact differences between the 6.5 RSAUM and 6.5 SAUM 4S

The GAP version was setup to be used with Accurate WSM mags. Mid last year (June July?) GAP shortened the lead to .081" to allow more room to chase lands. I went with the .081" version.
