Please tell me why, re:WW2, pillboxes weren't disabled prior to GI landings and:

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I should have researched it better, but wanted to get your views on it. Now I can see why the Ukraine's (at least some of them) are aligned more with the Western peoples. A terrible part of world history. Thanks

Please tell me why, re:WW2, pillboxes weren't disabled prior to GI landings and:

Why people in Ukraine and neighbors would want to be friendly to EU, esp. Germans that murdered and raped many of their (Ukraine and other) citizens during WW2, and Soviets liberated them. Was it the division of the country after the War, or something that happened in the Cold War. I am having...

I'm far from an activist, but is this becoming

When we lose democracy, we will also lose our current form of Govt, all I'm saying. Guess the propogandist would tell me we are free, but that would be a lie too. You are quibbling over the two terms, when that was not my point.

I'm far from an activist, but is this becoming

something more people are thinking about? Lately, I have been watching military TV-WW2, etc. I was thinking, the atmosphere here in USA is becoming more and more like that of Germany, Hitler's rise, because of similar things going on here. Just coincidence maybe, but was listening to a radio...

    Maggie’s Epic military photos

Seeing these pics makes me proud and sad at the same time. No service time here, but it sure brings home to me the sacrifices our armed forces make, and have made, to keep me a free man. Thanks to you all. Ron.

    Emergency heat?

Lot's of good advise. Now, I have to follow up and just do it. Seems like the Mr Heater might work best in the house. I also would like to have some heat in my attached garage, but may stub in a gas heater for that. Hard to get enthused about working on reloading and guns at 33 degrees. I did...

    Emergency heat?

Bingo! That was what I remember seeing. And available in 4 places right here in river city. Will look around. Just need, at least for short term outages, something to keep house above 32 df to prevent pipes freezing. Thanks. Ron.

    Emergency heat?

Had a wall furnace that ran on nat gas and piezoelectric on/off. But had a chimney, not safe in house without exhaust. Is that what you refer to Odonnks? We lived on edge of small town in NoCentral Wyo, for 5 years. Electric was always going off. A transformer kept flipping or blowing up...

    Eat mo chikn

Was computing, watching Mo-Auburn game and saw the last of a halftime bit, with eat mo chkn banner draped over the fans, and a cow on a crane, or maybe on the fans. Never saw it again. Just wondering if the cow survived lol. Ron

    Emergency heat?

He Rob, that's cool. If you see a little fella called Norm, tell him hi and GO BRONCOS!! We lived in rural areas for 40 yrs, but had to move to town for health reasons. Had a wood stove or fireplace all that time. But not now. It's hard to not be somewhat self reliant, as you have to be in...

    Emergency heat?

Probably a small gen would be plenty. You have some cht coming your way now, Hammer. My SIL is in Conn. 28 yrs navy. They are in south part, so not as much crappy weather as northern parts, I guess. I was wondering how they hook it up so that it doesn't back up, in case I forgot to switch it...

    Emergency heat?

Looks like a small generator with transfer switch would be good. I will contact an electric person to see what is involved. Thanks. Ron.

    Need some advice from travelers

Might check out Red Lodge, Mt. Lots of snow, great food, etc., Mountains, trails, small town. Close to Billings.

    Emergency heat?

Has been minus 15 df here for a week and more to come. No wood stove, gas heat, electric oven, gas log fireplace. What would you use for a heat source if the gas and/or electricity were shut down? Gas company tells me very unlikely, but has happened in the past. If elect goes down, then gas...

Post WW2 show in Wichita, Ks?

War Games, guess that was what I remembered. Maybe some aerial dog fights in that one, but not sure. We used to have gas powered race cars, about 12" long. Attatched to a tether, man, them babies got up some speed! I guess King's x is no longer, huh? Used to use a piece of pipe nailed to a wood...

Post WW2 show in Wichita, Ks?

Yea, that was pretty cool. Grandma prob was 80# soaking wet, but hard as nails. Went from Ks to Co and back in a coveed wagon several times during the depression. Found a nice green patch of ground to farm and then drought turned it drier than a bone. Dad used to laugh at the pranks he and...

Post WW2 show in Wichita, Ks?

lol, I guess corncobbing would have been a better description. Grandma didn't have a wire brush, but the corncob must of worked. The dog left howling and dragging its butt until it went outa sight behind the barn. Chickens did ok after that, too.

Post WW2 show in Wichita, Ks?

Yea, those were great! Guess I'm in a nostalgic mode, so I will try to describe some other memories from that era, like a flood in Wichita, stepped on a nail under a couple feet of water, had to get tetanus shot. Got measles. When flood waters went down, every puddle had bunches of tadpoles...

Post WW2 show in Wichita, Ks?

I remember going to a large stadium there in about 1945-46. Flame throwers, tanks, all kinds of military action going on. I always wondered about it, was 7 or 8 yrs old at that time. My mother worked at King's X cafe, I remember it had the best hamburgers ever. Any of you guys remember or know...

    W760 in 7mm08?

It go bang! Guess I will be ok, as long as I deal with extreme temp issues. Sure meters well, beats weighing every charge of kernel powder. Got a pretty good group with it a few days ago. Thanks for the tips. Ron.
