The .243 Win may be the perfect beginner round...maybe the perfect whitetail round in any hands actually. If I never hunted anything bigger than whitetail/Miley, I'd be perfectly happy with nothing larger. Ive killed deer with .243 using 100g Nosler Partition, old CorLokt, Sierra ProHunter...
Yeah...whatever. Been rumored a dozen times. I'll believe it when I see it. And the TOCroaches are the only ones that get pistols anyways, so who cares?
Researching the 180 sgk to load up tomorrow and couldn't believe how many people have reported either bullet blowing up on the shoulder or penciling through. Does this scare me? Nope. Not even s little. Bullet failures on game happen. Regardless of whether it is a bullet theoretically designed...
Sir, from my experience on foot patrols on deployment, may I suggest that you keep the pistol out of pockets and waistline? Stuff that bounces and rubs eventually means chaffing and once you are out there sometimes you just gotta suck it up indefinitely. I would suggest a good shoulder rig or a...
The bump has no purpose in any Glock, imho. I'm running a new (March of 2014) Gen4 G19. After about 800 rounds, I simply filed down the bump, then polished it smooth. Totally your call, but I think I got pretty much the same result. I'm also running the Ghost 3.5 Ultimate trigger connector...
My vote would be XDs 9 or Kel-Tec PF9 (if thoroughly tested). If Glock ever makes a single stack sub-compact in 9mm Luger, the world would be a much better place. Just sayin'. We'll have to make do without it until then.
Nice work. Shot placement every time. I don't believe the m855 has a steel core. I know that the M855A1 (so called "Enhanced Performance Round") utilizes a 19 grain steel penetration tip and seems to be very accurate out of my issue shootin' stick of the m4 type.
Played this game...and I guess I won when I finally let my wife get what she wanted. We shopped for a long time and handled many of the weapons mentioned above. She eventually ended up picking a Gen 4 Glock 26. So far, she really likes it even though it's a bit harder to conceal than the Ruger...
I'm headed to the general area of Watertown, so that qualifies as as upstate, I guess. ;) I'm a Northeast Pennsylvania native, so I'm glad to be headed back into the general region. Spent a fair amount of time up in the Great Sacandaga Lake area as as well as camping on the Hudson near...
Good stuff! Might be moving into the general area in spring. Good to hear that it isn't without some big game hunting options. I had always thought NY was shot gun only, but glad to see otherwise.
Mind sharing more details about the rifle? Like to know what barrel length and twist, and what action. Load data? Excellent work, both of you! Congratulations.
Have you looked @ Savage's factory threaded models? Adding a moderately priced muzzle brake to a pre-threaded barrel might be a good way to reduce recoil for the wife - and you won't mind it either - without adding much of cost. I'm thinking Savage 10 P-SR or 11 Hog Hunter w/ a new stock would...
I think the increased levels of hunting pressure in the east due to higher population densities plays a big a part in this. I think deer that aren't pressured much respond more predictably to calls than pressure cooked eastern (esp. PA, NJ, MD and NY) deer.
