2000MR+308+155 SMK Palma OCW test part Deux

A couple of weeks ago I did this test at 100 yds and posted it here. I had stated that I was going to take the 48, 48.3, and 48.6 groups out to 300 yds. I finally got the time to do it but somehow I forgot to load the 48 gr set. Judging by the results I'm on the right track. The 48.6 is just...

    2000MR + 308 + 155 SMK Palma OCW test

Finally got around to doing this. Wish I had gone one more step up to 48.9 but I thought I'd be seeing pressure signs by 48.6. Shot at 100 yds. I think I'm going to take the 48 to 48.6 out to 300 yds. See what happens. What do you guys think?

    Redding T-7 modifications

Sometime in the not to distant past I read a post about a mod to the turret of the press to get rid of some of the play. And of course even using search I can't find it. While I'm not detecting any slop on any part of my t7 I would like to find it again for future reference. My collection of...

    ocw Lost on this one

By reading responses on other ppls and my OCW tests I'm starting to get the hang of reading the test results. But this one has me confused. Some help would be appreciated. This second test is a continuation of a earlier test I did with my 223 but I didn't go high enough. And still haven't...

    Yet another OCW test

I'd like to think that I'm starting to get the hang of reading these things but it's always good to get more opinions. I was unhappy with the accuracy I was getting with my Savage FTR 308 shooting 175gr pills. I tried SMKs and Berger LRBTs and while it will shoot sub MOA (.75 @ 300yds) with...

    2000MR + 308 + 155 SMK Palma

Anybody loading this combo? I have a jug of 2000mr sitting around and I just got in some 155s and thought I'd save my Varget for other loads. Sure would appreciate some load info to get me started.

    Loading 223 using 8208

Does anyone have load info using IMR 8208 + 80 gr Berger VLD or SMK? The Hodgedon manual says 21 gr is max but QL says I can go to 23.4 and still not be in the danger zone. With the lack of components I would rather not use them up only to find out I was no where near the velocity or accuracy...

    .223 and Pro 2000 MR

Anybody loading 223 using 2000 MR? I'm just starting to load this caliber and was thinking since I have a 8# jug of the stuff I want to use it along with some 80 gr SMK's. Not having any reference material to look at, except Alliant's load guide that only states a max load, I put together some...

What's a good number for vertical?

Being new to the "F"Class game and to precision reloading sometimes I find myself trying to run before I can walk. Case in point, I've been working up a load for my 308 and with y'alls help I found a node I liked from a OCW test I did a few weeks ago. I wanted to test the load at 300 yds...

    Quickload Alliant 2000MR profile

I know that QL doesn't include a powder profile for 2000mr and was wondering if anyone knows of a included profile that comes close enough to it to be useable? Something similar to the suggestion that Accurate Shooter makes in their 308 cartridge guide to substitute ADI 2208 for Varget in QL

Redding bushing size for 223 rem

Using Lapua brass and 80gr SMKs, I just bought a Savage m12 FT/R in 223 and am trying to put together all the tools and components to reload for it. Shopping around online I've found the bullets, brass, and a set of Redding "S" dies for it. Considering that the bushings are scarce as hens...

    Power Pro 2000 MR Problems?

At the range today I got into a conversation with 2 gentlemen who are known locally for their ability to "steer a rifle" as they say. Actually, being a rookie at this "F" class stuff I try to pick their brains every chance I get :) Anyway we were talking about the availability of reloading...

    OCW test help

If I'm understanding the principles of this test I think I see a node at 40.5 and another at 42. Am I right or am I totally misunderstanding the concept? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Brass Segregation

I know that most if not all of you (myself included) who have more than one rifle in the same caliber keep your brass segregated so the same brass is used in the same rifle every time. I understand the brass is fire formed to each chamber and you want to make sure it is only used in that chamber...

    Weighing cases

I just finished weighing 200 Lapua .308 cases and I'm disappointed with the outcome. This is the first time I've taken the time to weigh cases, mainly because I was told that Lapua was so consistent that I didn't need to, so I have nothing to base it on but for the price I was expecting to see...

    OCW testing and confused

I went to the range today trying to work up a load for my Savage M12 f/tr. This is the first time I've tried the OCW method and I'm a bit confused. Mainly because all the groups are so close. Also after shooting the test at 100yds I did it again at 300yds. Don't know if your supposed to do that...

Using Base to Ogive length in QuickLoad

Is there a way to use the BTO length instead of COAL when working up a load in QuickLoad. I shoot a single shot rifle so I really have no need to measure the COAL except when I'm working in QL.

Pressure signs - jamming - QL

I recently bought a 308 Savage M12 FTR and decided to try Berger 175 gr Target VLD bullets. I followed Bergers suggestion and starting at .120 off the lands and working in I found that I got my best groups right at or jammed .005" into the lands. All of this was done with virgin Lapua brass, CCI...
