    .260 Remington

Anyone running 147 grain ELD Match in their 260? I came into a few hundred of them and I’m debating trying them out or trying to trade them for some 140 grain ELD Match. I’ve run the 143 ELD-X with good results so I feel like the 147s should work alright? My barrel is a McGowen Remage with a...

    Thinking about a new rifle

So, this is not quite THAT particular rifle but if this information helps you, great, if not, apologies for spamming your thread. A good friend has the Savage 10 in .308 with a factory heavy fluted barrel, he uses it for target shooting and hunting. Except for the barrel, I believe most of the...

    Rifle Scopes Bushnell HDMR Issue

Update! I had a great call with Bushnell’s customer service this evening. Bottom line, there shouldn’t have been a service charge and they’re going to fix the scope. I’m really appreciative of them taking care of this. I don’t know what caused the malfunction but they said if it happens...

    Rifle Scopes Bushnell HDMR Issue

My HDMR doesn’t have a zero stop so that couldn’t have been the issue for me. If I were you, I’d send the XRS in and maybe some preventative maintenance can keep your issue from occurring again. Good luck and thanks again.

    Rifle Scopes Bushnell HDMR Issue

I do not believe it was a demo unit.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

If you were only going to have one caliber?

If you reload: .260 Remington If you don’t: 6.5 Creedmoor Both of these are great target shooting rounds and both have enough energy to take a deer or antelope at 500 meters. I’ve never been elk hunting but if I get the chance, I’m gonna take my 260.

    Rifle Scopes Bushnell HDMR Issue

I was invited out to an 800 yard shoot about a month ago and when I went to dial the elevation (5.9 mils) on my HDMR, it stopped after only 3.2 mils of elevation. I returned the dial to zero and removed the turret cover to see if something was fouling the dial. I found nothing and attempted to...

    Looking for some caliber ideas.

+1 for the 280AI Regardless of whether you handload or shoot factory ammo, you shouldn’t have too much trouble maintaining 1500 ftlbs of energy out to 500 meters or keeping your projectiles supersonic out to 1400 meters. Honorable mention to the 6.5-284 and 6.5-06. Good luck with your decision.

Anybody heard of the company Twisted Carbon Barrels?

If you can chamber a rifle, why not just buy a carbon blank and chamber it yourself? That should be doable on the budget you have left.

New rifles shoots 14 mils low

Check the torque on the action screws. I had this happen to me around 13 years ago. Somebody torqued the rear action screw as hard as he could so the scope and barrel were pointing in different directions. I ran out of elevation real quick.

New to long range! R700 build

I’ve done something similar to this a couple of times, here are my comments: 1. The only thing I don’t see on your list is a decent trigger. I shot a factory trigger for a few years and kicked myself for taking so long to get a good trigger once I finally got one. 2. Consider 6.5 Creedmoor...

Best bolt action chassis style starter rifle under $1500???

A few people have asked me similar questions and I tend to point them to the Remington 700 PCR chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor (item 84586). I can’t tell you the difference in performance from the other brands mentioned above but I’ve had a great experience upgrading two Remington 700s while...

Remington 700 308, want 6.5 should I replace the barrel or buy new?

If you want a 308 and a 6.5, buy another rifle. My recommendation for that option is the Bergara. I’ve never owned one but I’ve shot them past 700 yards and (at that price point) I prefer them to Remingtons and Rugers. If you only need/want one bolt gun, go with a 6.5 barrel. I’m a big fan...

Remington Model 700 ADL Varmint .308

You’re getting a good barreled action with a cheap stock and trigger. I’ve owned a couple of these rifles, here are my recommendations to those considering them. -Go for the 6.5 Creedmoor over the 308. Nothing wrong with 308 but anything the 308 can do, the Creedmoor can do better. -Put a...

Gunsmithing Barrel/caliber conversion from .260 to 6.5 CM

I shoot 140-143 grain bullets around 2800fps in a 1-8 twist. You might find a factory round that likes a faster twist but I think 1-8 is pretty standard for 6.5 Creedmoor. IMHO, barrel length is completely up to your wants and needs. If you’re gonna target shoot out to 1200 yards or take elk...
