Expense is a tough question.... how much do you want to pay. Optics Planet has a good selection of tripods for spotting scopes. When I bought my VIPER, I looked at the tripods, and I wanted a ball type mount or a pistol grip mount, I got the VANGUARD ALTA+263AGH. It looked expensive at first...

I would buy one the day it went on sale. I love my viper, and its not even the HD model; So why not make it a better scope.

I guess that I have been just lucky. I had the R700-SPS-SD-AAC witht the Hogue stock from the factory, I added the bottom metal with the five round mags; and had it taken to a gunsmith, who polished the bottom of the receiver to make sure that there werent going to be any seating problems...

Havent seen any new posts so I'm hoping that things are almost ready for us. Plan on stopping by onn Friday, just to make sure that I know where to be Saturday morning, then heading over to the hotel. Looking forward to the trip and being there.

I made the same change about two months ago, I think it was a good upgrade, It seems to be a more stable stock... the HOGUE was a little too flexible, because it lacked the aluminum block, but otherwise, not a bad gun out of the box

Sounds like you are going to have a good match going on there. I may drive over friday and spend the night to be there early enough.... is this open to either gas or bolt guns? Just making sure that i bring enough gun (s)!

Lots of great info on this post... I have to go back and see what things I need to correct on my rifle. Starting with a new stock. I may never be a great competitive shooter, but I'd still like to be out there shooting!
