Just thought I would share this from my ammunition collection. Talon Mfg. Carlos Hathcock White Feather 308 Win. ammunition. You don't see this around much these days.
Just saw this on my Guns America Digest feed. Based on a Russian .40 Lobaev Improved (a modified 408 Cheytac), claims a 4,604 yards (~2.6 mile) shot using an SVLK-14S rifle on a 1 meter target; but not verified as of yet. Still very interesting...
What NV or thermal rifle scopes are out there capable of withstanding a 50 BMG recoil force? I checked on the Thor thermals and they are not; but could be made so but only on a large order basis. I think the FLIR units like the T50 and T70 are 50 BMG rated; but their price is beyond my budget...
What match grade 50 BMG ammo will cycle reliably in semi-auto 50 BMG detachable magazines such as in the Barrett M82A1? Looks like PMC X TAC match and Hornady 50 BMG A-MAX both have excellent BCs; but will they fire from a semi-auto?? Thanks.
Anyone on the Hide know where I could find a Meopta ZN 6x NV scope here in the USA? I did not see any in usual search engines except on the Meopta CZ site which is informational not a for sale type site. Thanks, Dale
What is the lightest magazine fed 50 BMG rifle out there today that still has manageable felt recoil performance? From handling various 50's at SHOT and elsewhere it appears the Safety Harbor SHF 50R weighing in at 17.5 lbs. empty with a 22" barrel is the lightest I have seen to date. Their 18"...
I took the plunge and I found a NIB Mateba Unica 6 Semi-Auto Revolver in 44 Magnum with the full kit, 6" barrel along with an 8" barrel, compensator and scope mount. Looking forward to shooting it at the range. Compliments my 45 ACP semi-auto Taurus 1911 and H&K USP Expert well. Got it more as a...
On a commercial flight from Phoenix to the East Coast recently I got the opportunity to see three B2 Stealth bombers flying at a lower altitude below our aircraft. I had never seen them in flight before so it was a real treat. When I joked to the flight attendant that they were 'stealth'...
I am helping an LE friend of mine with some precision rifle training down at Rifles Only. His department bolt action rifle is the Remington Sendero. He wanted to find a higher capacity magazine (10 rounds) than the 4 rounds standard magazines. Anyone have any leads as to how to go about this...
Anyone shot either the Chiappa Rhino longer barrel models (5" or 6" barrels) or the Mateba Unica 6 and if so, what were your impressions of them as far as handling, accuracy, recoil, etc. are concerned in either the 357 or 44 Mag?? The Mateba looks like a very unique action since it is an...
OK, let's give this a try just for some fun. What are your five favorite Sci-Fi movies that also featured real or futuristic firearms? I will throw out a few of mine; but sure there are plenty more: 1. The "Terminator" Series - all of them 2. The "Predator" Series - especially the first...
Been reviewing bipods or tripods for my TRG-22. Best price I can find on the SAKO TRG bipod is $399. Any suggestions as to other bipods or tripods for a TRG-22 at that price or less? Precision Rifle Solutions looks like they make a nice tripod that would fit it fine. Thanks, Dale.
Picked up an early loaded M1A with a medium weight NM barrel and black fiberglass stock and was thinking of dropping it in either a Rogue M1A or Bulldog 762 Gen 4 bullpup stock. Anyone have or used either, and if so, impressions of same. Other route would be a Sage or Troy EBR stock. regards, Dale.
I just picked up a Springfield Armory M1A MA9806 loaded standard with black fiberglass stock and stainless steel NM medium weight barrel. Can anyone tell me if that particular model has a front lugged receiver or a rear lugged receiver? I had not taken a good look at it yet since I just got it...
Here are some pics of the IDF museum in Tel Aviv starting with the entrance and working through some of the exibits. An amazing place. They had thousands of additional small arms on display as well. Well worth the visit.
