Re: Ballistic FTE problem? If you shoot east or west (or any azimuth other than 0º or 180º) you might want to turn Coriolis to "ON" and use it. At 33º North Lat (Dallas - where I live), shooting a typical 260, Coriolis accounts for +.3 MOA at 1000 yds at 90º and -.3 MOA at 270º. Basically...
Re: 4th Annual 4R Rifle Club Team Hunting Challenge Thanks a ton to BJ, Robert and Crew. Special thanks to Robert for setting up the Friday night practice. This was a very fun match. I loved the format and all the long range stuff. I'll be back next year.
Re: 4th Annual 4R Rifle Club Team Hunting Challenge BJ About what time do you think the match will end on Sat afternoon? I'm thinking of heading out to w TX to my lease. Got a big pig problem. Dale
Re: 300 BLACKOUT i've had a 16" AR Whisper for a year or so. There is a huge difference in sound from an AR vs a bolt gun both running a can. You still get the gas out of the bolt crack with the AR that the can can't do anything about plus all the damn cycle noise. If you really want quite...
Re: is it possible to build a bolt action 9MM rifle Just a thought..... Suppressed rifles in pistol calibers are a bit of an oxymoron. The whole point of suppression is noise control. The whole point of a longer barrel is more velocity which makes it very difficult to keep pistol rounds...
Re: Who Makes the best Glass??? I think that guy with like 40000 posts, you know Buttripper or something like that uses a simmons on his ar15 with the fancy super lite plastic lower. he must know what he's doin cuz he has all them posts ya know
Re: MANNERS vs MCMILLAN vs AICS stocks I have McM A5 and HTG and Manners T4A and T2A and T and I've shot the AICS quite a bit. I've also got a bunch or the new McM A3/5s on order. Some basics - 1) Very difficult to run the bolt on any thumbhole as fast as you can with a standard style...
Re: Torquing for tight group Simple test for stress free bedding - grab barrel in vise (make sure to use padded vise jaws) with stock upside down / place one hand lightly on barrel and stock at front of stock / slowly loosen front action screw with other hand / if you feel stock move any...
Re: FLUSH CUP ALTERNATIVES Tom Manners turned me on to GrovTec a couple of years ago. That's all he supplies. Never had a failure yet. Don't know what McM supplies but they work with GrovTec swivels and the swivels that TAB supplies work well with Manners and McM.
Re: The blueprinting debate. . .maybe this will help. Big +1 on the PE feature. IMHO, a custom push feed action with a well designed strong PE feature and an M16 style extractor in the bolt is just as good as any controlled feed claw. The religious argument is then reduced to the whole...
Re: Who hunts with a "ROCK" or similar tactical style Here's one of my Thoroughbred Rifles in 7Mag from last season. It's a cross between a tactical rig and a hunting rig. That's a 26" Bartlein #3 (same as everyone else's #4) in a McM Hunter stock with jewell trigger and TBR brake. Leu...
Re: metal lathe? If anybody is interested, Boston Machinery picked up 7 very lightly used Heavy 10s and are refurbing them. I think they still have a couple. Call Paul Terry and tell him Dale Troutt sent you. Great guys to deal with and very nice deal. Really hard to beat a well setup SB...
