Night Vision The Official: Steiner C35 Thermal Clip-on Review and User Thread!

On the Gen I, you can input a shift correction for up to 3 gun profiles. I ensure that I mount it in the same place each time and have not experienced any shift. I clip it on, select the profile for the gun and confirm on steel at dusk. No issues with shift between mounting and unmounting so far.

Apparently everything is better with the Gen 2, but the only small downside is that you can’t mount it on a rifle and actually fucking use it.

Vortex Razor HD Gen2 4.5-27x56 or Athlon Cronus BTR 4.5-29x56 APRS6 and switching to MRAD from MOA.

I’d say look for the Vortex Razor G2 used. I picked one up that had a few scratches for $1400.

Burris XTR PRO 5.5-30x56 SCR2 vs Leupold MK5 7-35x56 MIL PR2 for ELR & PRS

I’ve got a mk5 on one of my work guns and I’ll admit it is a good scope, but I still have a bad taste in my mouth from previous experiences with Leupold.

    Decisions, decisions

I’ve noticed the same thing. Especially with the XTR iii. If you’re eye isn’t centered on the scope you’ll get CA and if it’s really jacked up you get scope shadow. “Experienced” shooters get pretty butthurt when they complain about CA and you tell them to check their head position 🤣

    Decisions, decisions

Used Razor G3 would be my first pick. I’ve seen them posted for $2000-2300.

I passed on a gen 2 for $1800 due to mounting concerns. Maybe I need another thermal…🤣

DNT is gonna let us do a reticle

What about a very fine donut around the center that is only usable when illuminated. That way it doesn’t clutter the center of the reticle and if you want to use it at low magnification you can just crank the illumination up to 11.

I know I’ll get flamed for this, but I like wind dots.

Wet Mounting Scope Mounts - Where It All Started

Thoughts on wet bedding an action to a chassis?

Rifle Scopes Leupold drop on 1/21

It’s going to be a non-illuminated SFP Duplex reticle 2.5-8x with exposed 1/4 MOA turrets. You’re welcome.

Night Vision The Official: Steiner C35 Thermal Clip-on Review and User Thread!

I dropped my C35 like 3-4 feet onto my deck trying to pull it off one handed last night. It landed in its side pretty hard. I was worried it was going to have issues with the zero. Put it on and checked it tonight and it was good to go!

The c35 is definitely usable with a 3x bottom end.

Night Vision The Official: Steiner C35 Thermal Clip-on Review and User Thread!

It’s a fun gun for sure. I did a 9” barrel so I could dump velocity off of the cheap 40 grain ammo and make them subsonic. I did the 1-6x just for use with the thermal. Getting 2 moa groups at 100 with shitty 40 grain lead nose with the box velocity listed at 1130 fps, they are staying subsonic.

Made a rig for shooting bunnies in the garden while waiting for pigs to show up. Vortex China Eagle 1-6x on a suppressed .22lr upper shooting subs. RIP bunnies.

Night Vision The Official: Steiner C35 Thermal Clip-on Review and User Thread!

I was taking a hard look at the Gen II, eventually got tired of waiting for a mounting solution. I ended up picking up a Gen I used. Combined with my XTR IIIi 3-18x, it’s a pretty good setup. I’m very pleased. Using a thermal clip on is probably the only application where a 1-10 or 1-8 scope...

    Rifle Scopes Burris XTR3!!!

Now that it’s cold, I understand the gripe about the turrets. When it was 23 degrees and my hands were numb I see the complaint about the turret scales. Not really a deal breaker, but a valid observation.
