Need advice - 6 ARC bolt action load data for 103-108 gr bullets

For me, varget topped out at 28.0gr for usable accuracy and speed. Past that groups opened, occasional pierced primer on my Savage action and some ejector swipes. I haven't pushed Staball Match hard but I like the accuracy and 2820-2850 fps with XBR. Shot 10 for 10 at 1080 yrds with that load...

Need advice - 6 ARC bolt action load data for 103-108 gr bullets

My seating depth is 1.724" with aeromatch and 27.2gr XBR. No crunch. Electric toothbrush might get an additional .1 or .2 gr, but with such a small case and minimal speed gains and no accuracy improvement in my system, was not worth it to me. YMMV, happy shooting

Need advice - 6 ARC bolt action load data for 103-108 gr bullets

The ELDX 103gr appears to be a tangent ogive vs a more secant type profile for the 105gr hybrids or aeromatch. I was able to seat the 105gr without crunch at same seating depth as the 103gr. Happy shooting, YMMV

Need advice - 6 ARC bolt action load data for 103-108 gr bullets

Nice group and nice work up for a 16” barrel. In my system, the Aeromatch 105gr wasn’t jump sensitive from .010 - .030” Cheers

Powder temp stability chart from the internet. Of the handful I've tested, the data seems to be correct. YMMV, happy shooting

Need advice - 6 ARC bolt action load data for 103-108 gr bullets

My once fired Alpha brass has the same case H2O capacity as my Hornady but Alpha is a much tougher brass so load at your own risk. I started to get slight compressed loads starting at Varget 28.3gr. And at 28.4gr (~2800 fps) I'd get ~20% of cartridges with pierced primer (CCI 400 SRP) when...

Need advice - 6 ARC bolt action load data for 103-108 gr bullets

Appreciate all the inputs and help with my foray into 6 ARC bolt gun for PRS and long range steel shooting. I think my barrel has stabilized, my brass prep tuned, and my load development ironed out. My system likes 105 bullets with 27-28 grains of Varget or XBR at .010 - .030 jump. So far...

School me on: lightweight stock with ARCA rail fore-end, MTU or larger profile barrel channel

Very nice setup. With the carbon fiber barrel and fully adjustable buttstock, how does it balance?

School me on: lightweight stock with ARCA rail fore-end, MTU or larger profile barrel channel

I want to build a lightweight NRL Hunter type rifle on a lightweight stock, ARAC rail, and an adjustable cheek riser. Looking for something like the Manners LRH-SC but with a larger channel than can accept MTU profile barrel. Other considerations: Manners PRS1/PRS2 - prefer slightly longer...

Need advice - 6 ARC bolt action load data for 103-108 gr bullets

I've not personally temp tested with a cooler / hand warmer. Informally, on a cool 50 F day vs 75 F spring afternoon, no appreciable difference. Many online resources vouch for XBR's temp insensitivity as it is extruded powder. Go check it out on Gordon's Reloading Tool as well if you want to...

XBR, 26", bolt Info from the session in post #43, Hornady 103gr ELD-X @ 2848fps, near sea level DA. YMMV, happy shooting

Need advice - 6 ARC bolt action load data for 103-108 gr bullets

*Load at your own risk* Goal achieved. Both loads capable to 1000+ yds, very mild recoil, efficient, temp stable, groups well. Many thanks to the Little Crow Gunworks YouTube videos on reloading. I think that this is similar to the journey Frank is on with his podcast but with factory ammo...

My Pro Varmint (Boyds black varminter stock) purchased 2019 did not come pillar bedded. Had a local gunsmith do it, but should have done it myself after seeing the poor craftsmanship and long delays. YMMV, happy shooting

*** Disclaimer, I am not an expert in reloading, I am rather new to this art and this is my experience. The load information that I have may not work in your system, and may be overpressured which may cause damage to your system, injury or death. Always go 10% below what your find online and...

    CZ 457

Depending on your ammo selection and headspace measurement, bolt shims were cheap and effective way to improve accuracy in my Pro Varmint. Pillar bedding was +/- since mine liked lighter action torque settings so i'd only recommend if the bolt shims and lighter trigger weight doesn't help. Also...

Need advice - 6 ARC bolt action load data for 103-108 gr bullets

Some powders seem to just not sync well with a cartridge. Little Crow Gunworks on Youtube has some great points on how to find the right powder and priorities related to load dev. Here's a ladder with XBR I shot with shots 1-7 making a nice group through a range of 1.8 gr and 252 fps. 8 and 9...
