I have Mayflower plate carriers. I like their LPAAC and LPAC personally. They can be concealed if you want and you can add soft backers to them as well depending on the cut.
There is a gun lube called "Safari Charlie" that takes Krylon off really well. Or it did on one of my rifles. Before I just would paint over as needed but now I just soak a rag in it and then wipe the gun down.
I know I'm a bit late to the party but unless you know what brand of lock you're going up against a singular bump is useless. In any case you can get a pretty comprehensive kit from Sparrows and a number of other places. They sell them singularly or in sets of the standards like KY1, SC1, etc...
