    Also consider whether appropriate to skim-bed the action and/or the recoil lug. On a Mcrees chassis it can make a difference.

    20 inch vs 22 inch barrel

    It's a small difference, unlike 18" vs. 22". 20" out to 600 should not be a problem. Wanting to go out to 800 I would pick 22". You may want to take a look at what guys in your area chrono at with those barrel lengths 20/22", with the ammo you intend to use. Then run a ballistic program and see...

    Fluting? Yes or No ?

    I read somewhere....Accuracy International is not fluting their barrels, because they determined that the "uneven" cooling of the fluted barrel effected the accuracy.

    Chassis VS DBM

    It is sorta apples and oranges and you would want to try both and see what you would like. Tylerw02 makes good arguments. For a compgun to throw around, a chassis like Mcrees is hard to beat. It's cost effective, no fiberglass to chip off, and you can make it fit to you.

    I you reload the ammo after you shoot the OBR, you may be better off with non-Xtran. If you toss your brass after a shooting session, then it should not matter much.

    Honestly I can not compare both rifles in the accuracy department. GAP rifles are known to be accurate, and will keep a good resale value.

    Normal is relative. Should be OK if not to snug against it. Recoil force is in the direction toward the back of the scope anyway, it is not like the ring will smack against the turret housing. Having said that...I would go with some lower rings and replace the back ring with a 4 bolt version...
