Geissele dilema... DMR or National Match?

Just like the thread title says, DMR or NM is the question. Precision platform, prone/bench. No plans for hunting with this rifle, primarily for mid-range (out to 600yd) target use only. I'm looking for input from y'all who have one or both of these triggers. Thanks:D

F T/R Competition Tripod for spotting scope?

I'm just getting my feet wet in F-class, thus the noobie question. What are you guys/gals using for spotting scope tripods? Pros/cons? Moderators- if this belongs in a different subforum, oops.

    Krieger headspace question

I have a Krieger DCM (AR-15) barrel on order, "minimum-spec 223 chamber". I'll headspace it before running it of course, but I'd like to get started on brass prep. If I full-length resize brass to 'go' gauge spec, I should be GTG. Right? Or bump back .002 from the 'go' gauge?

F T/R Competition Thank you guys

I competed in my first F/TR match yesterday, and I want to thank all of you fellas and ladies for sharing so much information and knowledge. My aggregate was 564 10X, and I improved with each string. Out of 70~some competitors, I finished right at mid-pack. For a noobie (at a big equipment...

    Dillon 550B, absolutely LOVE it

Long story short, I recently started using a Dillon 550B for handgun cartridges and non-OCD rifle cartridges. I'm still using a Rockchucker for the razors edge precision stuff. What took me so long? This 550 is a fantastic machine, the only downside is the volume of pistol components I've...

    Winchester Super X

These days, we all know it's tough to be choosy about 22lr. I stumbled upon some Winchester Super X, 40 grain 1280fps hollowpoint. I bought all that I could, obviously. To my surprise, it shot really well in my little precision trainer (10/22). Not quite as well the primo stuff, but for...

IMR 4350: burn rate too slow for 308?

I stumbled onto a real good deal on a few pounds of IMR 4350, so I grabbed them obviously;) That propellant seems to be more popular for the larger capacity & magnum cases, but I do see 4350 listings for the heavies (190 and up) for 308 Winchester. Considering I live in the flippin desert...

    Nosler brass

I'm relatively new (less than 2 years) to the precision discipline. I've sort-of deduced that Lapua was the holy grail of brass... at least for 308 Win, that is. I am currently running Lapua, and am very happy with the results. I will say that I have neck turned them, and I do anneal. Even...

Gunsmithing Laquer/sealer question (wood stock specific)

Back story... I bought a Tacticool stock for my son's 10/22. From Boyd's, it's painted black. Can y'all recommend a topcoat/sealer that I can apply, specifically one that's tough? I'm thinking matte or semi-flat. Durability is a must, as it's a training firearm for a young man.

    Pistol primer question

I haven't personally done it, but there are guys who have developed safe centerfire pistol loads using small rifle primers. If one were to start from scratch (with published starting charge volumes) can large rifle primers be substituted for large pistol primers?

    10/22 barrel options (target/accuracy)

Kidd? Shilen? Other? Pros/cons, and why? For those who want the long version: 10/22 I accurized about ten years ago, it used to shoot 1moa or better. At least 6k rounds downrange, groups and overall accuracy is deteriorating. I've been through the scope bases, v-block...

    Colt Sporter HBAR accuracy question

I've got an old Competition HBAR; it's a large-pin lower. 20" barrel, 5.56 chamber, 1:9" rifling. The factory trigger sucks... 6# and gritty. Stoning has helped a little, but not much. I've played around with FCG springs, and although it was some improvement it wasn't what I'm looking for...

    Neck turning: observation and question

Less runout, tighter ES & SDs, better accuracy. Ok, so it's a PITA; it adds another step blah blah blah... I figured the serious guys weren't doing it because they had nothing better to do. Point being, there are measurable gains to be made. I'm pleased with the results. The question is...

    quarter-minute accuracy, THANKS GUYS

First, thank you fellas. I've not been here in the Hide very long, and only entered into the precision discipline not long ago, but I owe a lot to y'all for sharing your vast experience and knowledge. Yesterday, I shot my personal-best accuracy; ALL groups under half-minute, and a few...

    Standard deviation

308 Winchester; 168 & 190 grain SMKs over Varget through a Savage 10. The rifle and loads are capable of solid half-minute accuracy when I do my part. I hand-measure each charge individually, into weight-sorted Lapua cases. Seating depth doesn't seem to make measurable differences in the...
