I'm shooting 140 gr VLD's at 3250 fps from a 280 Ackley Improved with a 26" Brux barrel. I have about 350 rounds down the barrel and have not (yet) seen any sort of barrel degradation or accuracy issues. I haven't changed the load at all since load development. I reload in 100 round increments...
Just a casual observation... I bought a 22 cal Gamo pellet rifle with an integrated moderator for my wife, She is deadly with it. BUT...I use a TBAC Ultra 7 223 on my Bergara B14R and it is MUCH, MUCH, MUCH more quiet. Also, 22LR is substantially more powerful than all but the most expensive 22...
I have several TBAC and use their brake mounts. The brakes stay mounted all of the time. On my 223 Ackley, I have almost exactly .3 mil POI change, vertical, very consistent, when the Ultra 7 223 is added. I attribute this to 2 things, the weight changing the harmonics and the added "barrel...
It's gotta be a take-apart and fit in a briefcase. You know, half twist and the barrel is attached. A slide and loud click and the scope is attached. Maybe a bipod, too. Assemble, wait by the flashing neon lights on top of a tall building, scan the windows of the luxury hotel a half mile away...
THESE GUYS don't make the one I have anymore. Mine is a solo tent that weighs 15 ounces, if I recall correctly. I use a closed cell foam pad and a down bag. If I were to get a new tent, I'd do THIS and add the freestanding kit.
Sulphur well water. Drink it yourself, too. Ticks, fleas, chiggers rarely bite a mammal that drinks sulphur water. You get accustomed to the taste and it is otherwise harmless.
