    Bartlein barrel question

Re: Bartlein barrel question Frank, Thanks for answering me. My computer was not set up to do an email by clicking your website link and I did not see the actual email address. I was looking to buy one of your barrels on Grizzly and it was stated as a #3 contour but it is to thick for what I...

    Bartlein barrel question

I'm looking at some Bartlein barrels and noticed the contours on their sporters has a big gap. It goes from a #2 and .600 at the muzzle to a #3 and .670 at the muzzle. Where as most manufacturer's contours are #3 and .630. Is that a mistake? Also, has anyone noticed a difference with the...

Anyone every use a Sako 75 action?

I have a Sako 75 Greywolf in 308 Winchester that is just laying around. I also have an extra Rock barrel in 308, fluted M24 contour. Has anyone here used a Sako 75 action in a long range rig and how did it turn out? What stock would you suggest?

Gunsmithing Benelli M1 Super 90 reliablity problems

Re: Benelli M1 Super 90 reliablity problems I don't know if you tried this but, try cleaning the bore with a brass brush. Some lubricant from the factory gets hardened and makes feeding difficult. You can't see it by looking down the barrel but it's there if you don't take time to clean...

Advice for lightweight rifle build needed

Re: Advice for lightweight rifle build needed I agree with Norcal Phoenix and am basically say the same thing. Look on 24hourcampfire forum as a lot of guys there get crazy with the lightest weight rifles possible. NULA will get you there. The action is sized and trimmed for the cartridge...

    Surgeon Round action photos

Re: Surgeon Round action photos Thanks for posting the pictures. I still can't photobucket to load mine. The front angle shot shows what I was trying to say in the group thread about the lug does not sit even with the outside diameter of the action. But I haven't seen any that does and...

Gunsmithing Tikka actions for a custom build

Re: Tikka actions for a custom build James, How hard was it to get the Badger bottom metal to work with the Tikka? I have an older LSA-55 that I love but the clip system is horrible. If I could get a Badger to work I would do it in a heart beat.

Gunsmithing GAP for a hunting rifle?

Re: GAP for a hunting rifle? Maybe you guys are right. What do you guys think of a 22 inch #2 countour? That should leave a muzzle diameter around .60 inch.

Gunsmithing GAP for a hunting rifle?

Re: GAP for a hunting rifle? Harold, I don't have a range that goes to 1K around here. Only 600 and that is not the one I belong to. This is a hunting rifle for 300 yards max. I'm looking at shooting farther and use this site because of all the great information on it. I decided on a 7-08...

Gunsmithing GAP for a hunting rifle?

Re: GAP for a hunting rifle? I did debate on 22 or 24 inches. Still am, kind of. I would like to get 3000 fps, without pushing it, with 120 grain bullet. 22 inches seems to be right on the line, while 24 seems to get there easier. I know 75-100fps doesn't really make much of a difference...

    What's your cheapest precision rifle?

Re: What's your cheapest precision rifle? Savage 112 BVSS in 7 rem mag. Only ever adjusted the trigger and added a recoil pad. It will consistantly shoot 1/4 inch five shot groups with factory 140 Winchester Ballistic Tips. Under 1/2 inch with just about any factory 140 and 150 loads...

Gunsmithing GAP for a hunting rifle?

First, is GAP accepting barreling jobs currently? I have a Surgeon round action coming and was thinking of having GAP put on a barrel. The kicker is that it would be more of a hunting rifle than a sniper rifle. Is it a little overkill? Not worth the cost? I like accurate rifles and have...
