Rifle Scopes Athlon ETR vs Steiner P4xi

The Steiner tactical line are really burris scopes. They are totally different then the German made military line.

    .22 br

Does a 22BR setup for heavier bullets really offer anything over a 6mmBR? It would seem just easier to shoot standard 6mm Norma BR with Lapua brass.

PRS Talk Preferred trainer rifle caliber?

.223 can actually do a lot of what larger cartridges can do maybe not as well, but it can actually be shot at 800-1000 yards. With a 22lr you have to shoot at shorter ranges and pretend your not. Its a totally different type of "training". If its about cost then why not shoot a .17 air rifle...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Need advice on a fixed blade for a bug out bag.

A lot of these knives are fighting knives, and bad ones at that. Think about it if you wouldn't use it to cut your steak, or eat off of you shouldn't be carrying it around in a bug out bag unless your planning on using it for self defense. Something with an uncoated single edge 4-6inches...

    Rimfire optics?

A lot depends on the type of shooting you want to do there isn't one best answer for all types of rimfire, most people end up deciding based on price anyways especially for rimfire scopes.

Hunting & Fishing $500 youth bolt gun recommendation?

In that price range a Howa mini action in 6.5 Grendel or 7.62x39 should work nicely. There are really good deals sometimes on Howa's if you look a bit its possible you can find one in a chassis for around that or a few hundred more.

    MOA vs Mil

Just make sure you know what your gear is setup for and keep it all the same. Most people here are using MILS, and that has become a lot more common in the last ten years or so. At least MILS are standard in the west. I don't think Swedish MILS are common, and most people won't have Russian gear...

Why not shoot cheap ammo for practice?

The problem with using 22lr as a trainer is that the best ammo cost about the same as reloaded .223, and its vastly inferior to a .223 is just about every way in terms of both range, and accuracy potential at distance. So it seems to me there isn't much point in shooting the best 22lr unless...

Choices: Rimfire trainer or Chronograph for PRS?

How exactly is pulling the trigger of a different rifle going to help you get used to the the trigger pull of the rifle you really want to shoot? Your better off dry firing that rifle if that is what your working on. Free recoil never worked for me with anything that had any recoil.

Unplugging from cable TV / Cell phone

I haven't had cable for a long time there is everything I want to watch online and I can watch it when I feel like it.

Why not shoot cheap ammo for practice?

You cant know if your shooting good or not without good ammo, rifle, and scope. I know a British veteran who shoots at my range, and came here to escape their gun laws he is a really nice guy, but he just had a factory rem 700 in .308 with a cheap mail order scope, and he was shooting plate size...

    Cleaning Rod Selection

I have moved to carbon fiber cleaning rods, since I think they are much less likely to damage the bore, and are quite stiff.

    Rifle Scopes $1500 optic

The honest truth is no scopes are that reliable. They all have kind of similar insides, and can fail. buy for features, and glass reliability is subjective.

    Rifle Scopes $1500 optic

I have a Steiner military 4-16 I got for around that amount I think you can find those, or maybe the newer 3-15, but that might be a bit more. I really like mine. I have heard bad things about their tactical line though, so I would stick with a military.

    Shop lighting

You can remove the ballast, and direct wire the fixture it's supposed to be better, but I never tried it. The replacement bulbs that work with ballast seem to work well, but are supposed to use more energy.

Rifle Scopes How many of you folks here use a 22lr trainer?

There is only so much you can do with a 22lr its great for when your new to shooting, and lets you separate some of the issues out by having limited blast and recoil, but if your shooting for groups you really need to shoot at 50 yards. The best 22lr with the best ammo is still going to struggle...

    Advanced Marksmanship Recoil management?

If your using a Harris bipods it might be a good idea to try something else. There are a lot of better options available that are a bit easier to shoot with.

Choices: Rimfire trainer or Chronograph for PRS?

22LR trainers can only do so much, especially if you plan on shooting it at 100 yards. Once you know how to shoot more time with one isn't going to help that much, and they can even teach bad technique such as free recoiling the rifle. As long as you don't have flinching issues or need more...

    Red dots on bolt guns

I personally shoot with both eyes open and having some magnification on the optic even at fairly close range doesn't seem like a huge issue to me. I can see why people who shoot three gun like it though. A lot of AR-15 types stocks seem more suitable for being used that way with a offset red dot...

    Body armor control

Bullet construction is what really matters. There are .50 BMG bullets that will break apart before they penetrate, and fail to transfer the energy into the body. I think that is whats happening in the video I posted the bullet is expanding on the armor, and the bottom, and sides of the vest are...
